Straight Talk Franklin Wireless Hotspot, Black - Prepaid Mobile Hotspot (Refurbished)

I bought two other hot spot units from different vendors and had trouble with both. Bought this unit and after a few minutes I had it working. Tried it away from my house while sitting in my car and it worked like a charm. Very happy with this Hot Spot unit!

The Franklin Mobile Hotspot works fine when it works. Unit seems to require a reboot every 3 days. Unable to gain access to hotspot to view log. After reboot log is cleared and unit works. Called Franklin and left message. Will see how customer service is......

There were some glitches with the device. Had to call support (very helpful) who had me remove and then reinsert the sim card. Never mind the device -- it worked well after that.. ON THE OTHER HAND, Straight Talk rates for mobile data on this device are extortionate. Buying more expensive topups lowers the cost only marginally to $10 per gig. When I upgraded mobile data for my phone, on the other hand, Straight Talk gave me an additional 20 gigs per month for $10 (i.e. 50 cents per gig plus unlimited talk and text). Upshot, they charge 20 times as much for mobile data on this little gizmo as they do on their phones.

This is all a total crock. Company will not provide updated usage info EVER, and says your out of service every 13-14 days so you need to buy more. Switched to VZJetpack and never run out of service data and it's cheaper! Go figure.

This device is not it if you are doing work from home and have to take your work with you, the internet connection is horrible, it drags and you can't open up apps in a timely fashion. This device is not going to work unless it's just for jumping on the internet for a brief second.

The product itself looks and seems to work fine. But I can't properly review this item properly because I was not aware that at $55 refill HOT SPOT card does NOT WORK with this device. There is no indication ANYWHERE on this product OR the card. I tried calling customer service and I was not able to get through to anyone and the only "helpful" thing the automated system had to offer was to purchase another refill card.

Terrible product, terrible customer service, terrible service. I bought this product because my daughter needed wifi during distance learning due to COVID. BUT.. this device came with activation instructions that were outdated. The website that was included in the instruction manual was wrong, the phone number for customer service was as well. Further, I was able to get the device working for a day, and then it stopped working completely. When trying to call customer service, my calls would drop and I kept getting the run-around. Finally, when I WAS able to get a hold of corporate, they told me that I had no more data, out of 1-day use for my daughter's iPad. Please note, my daughter's device was the only one hooked to that hotspot, it lasted 1 day, and customer service was completely inadequate.

Actually says it gets no service. Spent an hour with someone who barely spoke English who could do nothing for me and still "no service".
