Had been using a battery operated weed eater that just couldn't hold up to coarser grasses. Battery died in about 30 minutes. The Echo SRM-266 is versatile and can handle everything. Have purchased a 10 inch 3 cutter blade for small shrub and a 22 tooth brush blade. No way a battery operated weed eater could do what I need. Glad to have this for all my needs.
Purchased a month ago. Previous trimmer was a Troybuilt. Lasted five years. When I went to have repaired found out it would be better to get a new one. So I spoke to commercial mower friend and he advised me to get an Echo or Stihl. Glad I listened. Very powerful. Cuts right through the grass with ease. You must follow instructions on starting or you will think something is wrong with your trimmer, very easy to flood. Spoke to customer service got good advice no more problems. Very pleased
I had purchased another brand 4 cycle model about 2 months ago. I used it 4 times, was very unsatisfied and returned it. A friend told me about the Echo models and how pleased he was with them. I visited my local dealer and was very impressed with the salesman and his knowledge of the products. I explained what I was planning to clear with this product and my future plans on possibly adding a cutting blade to it. He suggested the SRM-266 straight shaft trimmer. I am totally pleased with this product. It takes whatever I throw at it. I trim my ditches that contain cattails, briers, and pampas grass, with no trouble. It starts easy, runs strong, turns up fast and doesn't bog down. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to move up to a serious professional grade trimmer.
Wow! What nice little machine! I'm used to the low cost curved shaft trimmers from Homelite and others. This trimmer has plenty of power for the yard work and trail trimming that I've been doing. Starts easy and idles smooth. Not terribly loud either. It's heavier than I'm used to but not excessive. So far I really like it.
I bought this a month ago and had to return it because the throttle stuck and it started shutting off. I still Have my old echo trimmer and I loved it..... only bought a new one because the throttle cable needs replaced however I'm not nearly as impressed with the new model. I'm 5'8" tall and it seems like my arm is always getting to close to the hot exhaust..... seems like there should be a way to either cover, deflect, or reroute the exhaust. I also think the handle placed is for taller people.... how about a fast locking quick adjusting handle.... finally I don't feel like starting it is as easy as what you promote.... just my opinion.... it's pretty pricy for what it is especially when comparing it to my older one which I've had for over a decade and ran flawlessly....
I was torn between stihl and echo for quite a while. After recommendations from friends and echos excellent warranty, I finally decided on the 266. I maintain 15 acres, and typically utilize this machine in 3-4 hour increments of hard work. This trimmer never skips a beat, even in the Kentucky heat/humidity. It starts very easy. Replacing string is painless and efficient. It rips through brush, thorns, blackberries, etc with ease. It handles well with fine lines around the house. I just purchased the blade attachment to start clearing honeysuckle from my woodland, and I'm sure it is the right tool for the job. Save yourself the hours of research and avoid FOBO (Fear of better options). Great tool. Couldn't be happier.
I have always purchased less expensive trimmers and decided to spend a little more to get something that would last longer than one season. I was impressed by the Echo warranty so I bought the SRM 266. Its only been a month, but I've been very impressed with this trimmer, it starts easily and will cut through anything with ease. I also love the easy and fast loading of the line. It used to take me several minutes to wind it by hand and get frustrated when I let my fingers slip and had to start over. This trimmer is a little heavier, but it's utility is ten times better than anything I've used before. I would highly recommend purchasing this product!
I bought this trimmer to replace an aging Ryobi 25cc commercial unit, the difference is unreal. This thing has a ton of power, it powers right through the overgrown bermuda grass and weeds are no problem either. I've only had for a month but at this point I would highly recommend this unit.
The echo srm-266 is nice, power is good and starts right up, if you don't forget to turn the switch to start. The customer service has impressed me already. When I bought it, it had a broken part on it, so I contacted them with the issue. They set me a new part promptly without any hassle. Thanks echo
I bought the SRM-266 about 3 weeks ago. The trimmer was very easy to start and runs very well. Like most string trimmers, trimming along a chain link fence tends to use the line quicker then normal trimming. I found it was very easy to reload new line on the spool. It sure beats trying to wind the line on the old style trimmer heads. The one down fall of the unit is Echo does not include the attachment point for a strap/harness on the trimmer. I will have to buy the shoulder strap kit to get the attachment point. Then I have to remove the cutting head/transmission and handle on the shaft to get the attachment point positioned properly. The omission of the attachment point along with the need to disassemble the unit to add the attachment point is the only reason for not rating it 5 stars.
