Sheer Stabilizer

CM March 20, 2026

I keep this on hand for applique or foundation strip piecing as a soft, leave in sheer stabilizer. I have even used it as a foundation for precision "paper piecing" as a leave in instead of ripping paper out. You can trace onto it easily and its not bulky at all.

I usually reuse a product that I used in the past. I wanted to use this product as another type of foundation for quilting.

Sulky Cut Away Stabilizer

MrsBrittonsCreations April 6, 2014

A little pricey, but so far, it works great! I've tried it a few times and its worked really well. Any problems I've had, have been mine. I tried embroidering letters and didn't use enough. Should have doubled up. My letters were a bit puckered. Overall, I'm very happy with this product.

Excellent and my favorite stabilizer

AveryandElle March 25, 2021

I'm new to using my Janome embroidery machine and a friend suggested using this for the back of the quilt labels. She suggested that I use two layers and put them in alternate directions and that's worked great. However I wondered if stabilizer shrinks because the quilts that I give people will be used and washed since they're mainly to children. I look it up online and found out that if items are going to be washed the stabilizer should be pretty shrunk so I put two layers of this actually I do a bunch at one time, in the sink and really really hot water along with the fabric I'm going to use, why waste the washing machine for this simple process squeeze all the water out and throw it in the dryer and yes they do all shrink them just enough that they would pucker up the label so that it wouldn't look good. But I love this stuff. And I do highly recommend two layers and alternate directions, one horizontal and one vertical and so I know what that is when it comes out of the dryer as I cut them I flip one sideways and then I Mark with a black felt tip marker the arrow on each so that one goes across and the other one goes down and I know which directions they go cuz they look the same. Anyways I tried it with one layer and I didn't think it embroidered the layer quite as nice but with two layers it's beautiful. I highly recommend this because you can cut it away close to what you've done it does not show from the front. It's something I never used years ago when I had a different brand of embroidery machine. I highly recommend buying this and I found Walmart to have the best price on it. Enjoy embroidering cuz I sure am.

excellent product, great price

Patpat7102 February 23, 2017

I've used this product for machine embroidery for years and now I'm using it as foundation squares for quilting. It is nice to see that the price is being kept down. I picked up the product in store 2 days after placing the order.

Stablizer

Barbara July 6, 2015

This is used for sheer clothing that you would see the stabilizer under the fabric. I have used it once and it is invisible under my embroidery. I will purchase again! WalMart has the best prices for these supplies!!

This is the first time trying this product and thought it worked amazing. Not like the stiff backings that I've used in the past. Highly rec.
