I am happy with this composter.I wanted an enclosed system and this fit the bill. Assembly is easy but may need an extra hand in the beginning. Comes flat in box. Two compartments. Heavy plastic and sturdy
Love the design and ease of use
Is a very good design, not too big and considered perfect.
We've only had it a week but it seems well made and easy to use.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is large and compact and really great! We have really enjoyed having it. We keep it in the yard and bring our compost pile up every few days. You can tell it is a little bit cheaply made. Like the plastic is a little stiff. But for a composter it's exactly what we needed/wanted.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Sun Joe Dual-Chamber tumbling composter 42 gallon. It worked beautiful and I had no problems using this wonderful product. I would like to say I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is interested in purchasing one of these. You will be very very happy that you bought . It's very simple to use and it works amazing at what it does. The product is trustworthy it's new it's different and unique.
I have multiple Sunjoe products Including a shredder, I have been using a pair of Smith and Hawkin Biostacks for composting, and I genuinely love them I'm sorry they're not made anymore. But I noticed that my dogs were jumping on top of the compost pile, And there were things in there that we really didn't want them to eat. So we wanted to get a composter that could seal and keep the dogs out. The biostack would continue getting the yard / garden waste, and the Sunjoe would get the food waste. I found the assembly of the composter to be relatively easy and straightforward. But then I am inexperienced IKEA furniture assembler so YMMV. The product itself is high quality and seems durable. Overall the plan is working I filled one side of the composter and have started filling the other side. I'm pretty sure the first side will be fully composted by the time the other side is full but I'm not sure what the best way to get the compost out. If you had a video showing that use Much appreciate it Two areas that I would like to see improved on this. One is the size of the openings. A typical kitchen compost pail is actually bigger than the opening so it's very hard to get all of my kitchen compost into the composter.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great little composter! I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with size, but it's perfect - not too big and not too small. I love that is has 2 compartments so I can be composting on one side and adding on the other. It's also nice that each compartment has a separate door instead of one big door for both. The quality also seems good and durable. The downside is assembly. I was amazed at how small the shipping box was - made sense once I opened it. Each side of the bin gets assembled together. They give you a screwdriver, but I am thankful I had a drill. Assembly took 40+ nuts and bolts. I am fairly handy, and it took me 45 minutes to assemble. Be prepared with a drill! Overall, I would definitely recommend. Can't wait to see what kind of compost this creates!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm brand new to composting and this Sun Joe all-season composter was my first attempt at it. While it's a quality product, this was a nightmare to put together. There are over 60 bolts, 60 nuts, and 11 panels. Tons of patience and some creative balancing is also needed. From opening the box to completely setting it up, the entire process took me over an hour. You begin by attaching the panels one by one to the side panels. This is very challenging - trying to line up all the holes, holding the panel in place, and trying to tighten the screws. If you have someone else to help, if would save you some time and headaches. Before all of the panels are installed, you eventually have to put in the center divider. What the instructions don't tell you is that it has to face a certain direction in order for it to be flush with all the panels. I didn't realize this until I had put the divider in and all the panels on. I had to take panels off in order to switch the divider around. There are barley visible arrows that show you which direction and how to line it up, but the instructions never tell you this. This would have been very helpful to know beforehand. Once the container is assembled, however, putting the stand together is fairly simple and straightforward. Attaching the container to the stand is also fairly easy. I do like how there are two separate chambers. This allows you to have different composts at different stages with different items in it. I did find the slider doors to be a bit difficult to open and close. They're just sliding plastic doors but they often get stuck and it takes some muscle to get them loose. I wish these doors would be designed to open and close more easily. The container itself is very easy to spin to mix everything up. The stand is also wide and sturdy enough to handle a full load. I've just started the compost process. The instruction booklet includes tips and tricks on composting, which I found very helpful. So far, I've had no issues with the unit and the composting seems to be going very well. The seems are very tight and nothing falls out when you spin it. It's also sealed tightly so I barely notice any smells coming from it. In summary, the assembly of this unit needs to be greatly improved. There is no need for that many screws and that many panels to put together. I wish the container would be redesigned to snap in and lock together without screws. The sliding doors should also be improved so they are not hard to open and close, or redesigned with a hinge instead. This is my first composter and while the actual composting works fine, the assembly process was not fun.
Stay away from this product! After 2 frustrating hours, I'm about to toss the whole thing in the trash. Nothing fits together properly. Walmart and SunJoe should be ashamed of themselves for carrying this awful product.
