I'm stoked that the Super Close Shave Formula is back after being out of stock for an extended period of time (curse those supply chain issues). I have tried many different brands over the years, and the Close Shave Formula is by far my favorite and best for sensitive skin.
I have purchased this shave cream for my husband 3 times now. There was a long period of time when this product was backordered, and we had to try other options. This formula is the perfect balance of texture, consistency, fragrance, and performance. It also rinses cleaner than any other product. A little amount goes a very long way, making this not only the best shave cream, but also a great value. Praying it never goes on backorder again.
I'm a DE shaver and have tried a lot of fancy shaving soaps and creams. This shave cream may be the GOAT for me. Offers a close effortless shave. Almost feels like cheating. Smells great but not overly scented. I highly recommend this shave cream.
Bought this shaving cream on a whim and loved it. Gives a close shave every time. Leaves skin feeling good
Excellent product! My Dad loves loves loves Baxter products and says no other brand can compare! I always know what I can get him for gifts!
This cream is the best by far than the foams others have to sell you.
This is the best shave cream I've used. Works best with a shave brush.
Using a badger brush and hold on beard for 30 seconds, makes a soft beard and ready for shaving, traditional or not. No cuts and moisturizes face skin.
I use reviews a great deal to guide my purchasing, but I am terrible at taking the time to leave my own. After using Baxter's Super Close Shaving Formula (SCSF), I feel the need to provide my thoughts. This shaving “cream” is the best I have used, period. I am very selective and have tried numerous medium to high-end brands over the years. This is absolutely my new favorite! Below I will share my comments: - Texture/Substance - love the feel of the SCSF. It is opaque enough to see the cream on your face (with 50+ yr old eyes, I don't like the newer wave of products that are clear...too hard to see what's been shaved and what hasn't). I've never been one to need a heavy lather, as I'd been used to cream styles out of tubes for quite awhile. Thickness of lather does not equate to slickness on the skin. This product doesn't lather much and doesn't need to. SCSF provides an excellent, slick glide to the razor (my go-to razor is still my Gillette Sensor Excel...best two blade razor ever IMHO). SCSF has a nice pleasant scent with a very subtle menthol/cooling effect that feels nice. - Application - I prefer to use a badger brush, though one doesn't have to. I make sure to cover all areas to be shaved, but not with an overly thick coating. A thin covering will do. - Shaving - Glides easily, for a nice smooth shave. - Post Shave - ..and this is a pet peeve of mine...thankfully SCSF rinses very easily and clean under a water stream; some others are too thick and are diffucult to rinse out of the razor. SCSF rinses easily (Thank you, Baxter's). Lastly, use your post shave balm or after shave of choice (I do like Baxter's by the way; not too heavy or greasy; absorbs quickly) So, again, SCSF has become my new favorite shaving cream...sufficiently opaque, razor glides very smoothly, razor rinses clean, nice scent with a subtle menthol/peppermint sensation. I highly recommend to all.
20+ year loyal fan and daily user of Baxter of CA's facial scrub, cleanser and mint toner. AVOID wasting your money on this shave formula. I was so disappointed. There is zero lather. I use a traditional brush, and literally the cream just basically dissolves. I'm very surprised given my love for every other product that I've purchased that this one is pretty much worthless.
