Super Mario Maker 2 - Nintendo Switch [Digital]

This is a really nice game to hand on hand digitally without fiddling with a game card given the short bursts of play you can do with the limitless levels this offers. Plays and looks fine on Switch 2's handheld mode, but it does not currently take advantage of Switch 2's features. It cannot use Handheld Boost mode since it conflicts with the controls so no 1080P in handheld, nor can it play in 1440P or 4K on TV docked mode unless a specific Switch 2 enhancement update is released in the future. It's still a great value if you ever find it on sale just because of how much custom content is on offer here. There's levels for everyone including casual, masochists, and musical "Auto-Mario" levels when you just want to watch a creative show. Don't overlook the 1P Story mode that gives a bit of fun plot direction as far as all the level building is concerned, too.

The game is overall well made and the best part is there is truly unlimited content since levels are all user made. It's not just replayable but near infinite in quantity.

If you're interested in creating Mario courses yourself OR you have Nintendo Switch Online (or both!) then SMM2 is well worth it! The story mode is better than I expected due to creative level designs and strong variety in terms of aesthetics, platforming mechanics, objectives, and difficulties. And there are so many fun online courses and worlds to play if you take some time to look for them. Bouncing back and forth between the 5 different generations of Mario games included (SMB, SMB3, SMW, NSMB, and 3D World) and the subtleties involved with each really helps keep the game fresh. In a sense it serves as a celebration of the history of 2D Mario and it's my favorite aspect of the game. I haven't played around with the Course Maker too much but from my limited use it seems robust. Even for people not interested in creating courses, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who enjoys or is interested in 2D Mario games! (I bought the digital code and received it via email shortly after purchase, no issues with redeeming the code or using the product)

It's multiple generations of Mario games but with custom levels made by players and level designers. If you like 2D platformers and puzzles and dexterity and agility challenges in this genre, this is right up your alley. Lots of levels to play. I'm worried Nintendo will eventually shut down the service though, so I think that almost warrants a 4 star rating due to that risk, but I'm not certain that will happen anytime soon, so I'm not deducting a star. Overall, if you like Mario games and want more levels, this is perfect. I got it on a half off sale for around $30 and feel that was a pretty fair price for it. I have put about 2 hours into it so far.

My kids love it and play for hours a day either playing other player made maps, or making their own.

I never received it!! I have emails from Apple stating my iCloud was deactivated when they said it was delivered by email. They refuse to do anything to fix it.
