As a lifelong fan of the iconic Mario series I am always apprehensive about a new Mario title. Sometimes Nintendo tries new things for the sake of trying something new and we get games that don't play as well as they should, like Starfox Zero, Federation Force, etc. When I saw the first footage of Super Mario Odyssey I was scared about the whole wedding thing making the game too serious and the hat with eyeballs a little too goofy. When first playing the game it took some getting used to the MANY moves Mario has as well as honing in on precision in the 3D environment. Here, Nintendo focusses on what they know best and that's level design. They use the popular 3D-2D intermix very scarcely but effectively, taking a cue from such fine titles as Super Paper Mario and Zelda Link Between Worlds. What is also interesting is the inclusion of semi 3D zones that are not dissimilar to the sort of puzzles found in Captain Toad. They have also done something similar with the level progression along the lines of the popular Pikmin series where you need to collect things to get your ship to the next destination. With all of the hidden collectibles and secret areas, it seems like Nintendo has combined all the successful and unique elements they are known for into a very unpredictable, challenging and fun addition to the Mario family.
They did a fantastic job on this game. Everything they did was thinking about player enjoyment. If you own a switch, this is a must have!
[Employee of walmartcanada] I've long been a fan of 3D Mario games, but Odyssey easily sits at the top of the pile.
Main story was very quick to burn through for me but there's additional content to enjoy afterward, especially for a completionist. I think it could have been a bit more challenging and provided a richer story but being that it's a game for everyone to enjoy, I think I may be asking too much. Despite this, it is a very fun game to pick up and play casually. I would recommend it to children/adolescent age group especially.
[Employee of walmartcanada] Fast, got it the first day of release!
Great game. Exactly as advertised.
So accessible and fun. Both kids and adults can enjoy this game. Easy for the beginner and can get challenging for the gamer after the main story is done.
What's there to review about? It's a 10/10 game and I love it Although when I came to pick it up from my Walmart it took some time to receive it.
The best Mario game ever. Graphs are well-done and the interaction between the game and the gamer is awesome.
The game was really good in conditions and brand new but it takes a bit for a tiny game to deliver to me but overall it is really good and I enjoyed it and my brother so I really recommend this.
