Superman (Extended Cut and Special Edition 2-Film Collection)

Superman is an important character for both the pop-cultural zeitgeist and history alike. He's a man that promotes kindness, love and peace as core morals. He was raised by two loving parents that taught him those basic human values, and to a world that rejects those ideals, he's there as a reminder to love thy neighbor. Beyond this, he is the basis of which all superhero media exists. Every superhero you could ever think of can be traced back to this character, and likewise, many non-superhero media wouldn't exist without him. It cannot be stressed enough how vital Superman is as a character and a role model. This film is the perfect distillation of his character for the times of which were modern upon its release. To this day it is a standard for which Superman movies try so hard to achieve its iconic and memorable status (with the only one coming close being the one that released this year. 50 years later they somehow got it). This double pack not only contained the extended version of the film - which adds an additional 8 minutes that truly makes the story flow better - it also contains the TV cut of the movie. It was a phenomenon when it originally aired, as it contains all 3 hours of the footage taken, edited into a TV format almost like a telenovela. It was a special thing. In other words, this double-pack is like a time capsule of important pop culture history. I would recommend it to any Superman fan, any movie buff, and especially anyone who casually likes movies and wants to try something new.

The first true superhero film, and still one of the best. Christopher Reeves defines the role of Superman as Richard Donner directs a wonderful film.

Blue ray DVD set arrived in excellent condition and play the whole extended 3 hour movie 🎬 that Richard Donner originally did not want to be added to the movie like Lex Luther's Layer and the shaking buildings where people were trying to get out of before the earthquake swallowed them up and Mrs Tasmacher (Lex's girlfriend) being saved from being fed to "the babies" by Otis at the end

Wow the 3 hour long cut alone is worth the price of admission! One thing i immediately notices was that the theme in the opening sequence matches how it sounds on the film soundtrack, iTunes, or Amazon Music as opposed to it being a few octaves higher in the original cut. Much of the additional footage seems to be during and after the climax which i think doesn't bog down the plot or pacing. Highly recommend this to fans of this Christopher Reeve classic!

I'd originally purchased the Superman Anthology blu-ray, but the version advertised that I thought I was getting would come with both the Theatrical and Special Edition version of Superman 1 as well as the Theatrical and Richard Donner Cut versions of Superman II. Well, when I got the set I was disappointed to discover that all I got was the Theatrical Versions of all 5 Superman films. So I had to seprately purchase this version along with Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut. I'm actually glad it worked out that way, especially after watching the 3 hour long Extended Cut which wouldn't have come with the Anthology set had I gotten the one that was advertised. anyway, I am a huge fan of the original Superman films, well maybe not so much with Superman IV. that was pretty campy then as well as now. anyway, if you're considering buying this I highly recommend it.

Very happy with purchase this is a great Superman three hour TV version Superman, and the movie special edition on Blu-ray. The movie looked incredible on Blu-ray and very done with the picture quality this is a very good purchase for the price you can't beat it for 15 dollars this was a really good pick up to add to my Superman collection

Both of these films looks very good on Blu-ray. Fortunately, Warner Bros. does not put both movies on one disc, so there are no compression issues. Each movie comes on its own disc. I recommend this set when at a good price.

One of my favorite movies.

I'm a huge fan of Superman and I had no idea this version existed. It's a great addition to any movie collection, especially for the Super Hero fan.

The 3 hour tv cut is the best version of Superman the movie. Worth the upgrade for the additional scenes.
