Overspeed training is the only thing that has worked for us with students who have learned to swing slowly. Trust me the worst thing you can do to a child 1st learning to golf is to tell them to slow down through the impact zone. It is next to impossible to get people to speed up later. Flipping the club over and swinging the handle has been a staple drill for good reason forever. This just builds on that concept. The fact it can and should be done at home makes it even more valuable.
Ive used the system with students now for a couple of years. Ive noticed some awesome gains and some fractional gain. Ive recommended the training to many. The BIGGEST thing Ive noticed is the sequence and structural gains. The typical golfer who attends one of my golf schools is between 55 and 80 years old and want to recover lost form. Well, speed is something they wish they had back. The protocol helps with that and gets many of them moving way better. The other massive thing Ive noticed is how they HAVE to move their body more effectively when swing the sticks. Its great to show them their golf swing and their super speed swing side by side. Yes, I know they arent squaring a face, but it shows the possibilities! After some coaching on grip and release sequence, their golf swing takes on more of the look and effective movement patterns of their super speed swing. My non-scientific study says, get and swing the darn things. Dont go nuts and hurt yourself, but swing them and then hit some balls, rinse and repeat. Best, Martin Chuck (and no, they dont pay me.)
