I saw this shredder/slicer/mandolin on several videos online, but usually I don't pay attn to adverts. So I passed them by.
Until my son %26 grands became obsessed w/ bread %26 butter pickles. They were peeling %26 slicing cukes by the doz e/ wkend, it seemed, so there I went: hunting down the best price. And fastest delivery option.
I also wanted the best quality for the price (I knew it wasn't going to be a Kitchen-Aid, ok?).
My son already had a mandolin, but it was the flat, table-top kind, the one that slices off pieces of anatomy? Nope, I was always thinking there were going to be pcs of DNA floating in the jars @ some point. 🤢
So the PLUSES of this apparatus are several:
1) Same $ as the lowest of the other, online, Free Shipping, offers. Except I could choose Same Day Delivery! Woohoo!
2) The slicing/dicing/whatever options were 12. All self-contained in the box. Changing the "blades" was/is simple %26 safe! My 9 yo grand was able to do it %26 he is HYPER!
3) There's a suction cup on the bottom, managed by a crank-shaft on the side, that VERY securely attached the entire mandolin to my dodgy 12 yo melamine counter over the course of the Summer, %26 over 70 qts of pickles.
4) There were also French fries, both reg taters %26 sweet potatoes; carrots, onions, %26 cabbage.
It's been in hibernation for a cpl of months now, but only bcs school has started %26 the kids are only here in the wkends %26 my son's work has picked up. Not much time for them to work in the kitchen. 🥺
However, Thxgiving is up next %26 I've got a cpl of recipes in the hopper that will require shredding, slicing, %26 julienning, so I'm thinking the Beast is going to reappear rather soon! 🤩
Best investment of $25 I ever made (everyone was running a sale @ the time!)
