Crisp sound and fantastic bass
I have to say that the prime 5.1 system with 5 satallite speakers and a subwoofer sound far better than I thought._x000D_ I had bookshelves that had upward fireing drivers but never really satisfied with them._x000D_ Since I switched to SVS I am now ready to add the prime elevation speakers._x000D_ SVS design team are fantastic._x000D_ And the customer service is far better than any tech company I e e er dealt with._x000D_ Thank you SVS team for your incredible speakers._x000D_ _x000D_ Joe Q
I bought these speakers on-line after doing a fair amount of comparative shopping - mostly evaluating what others said about this product. Everything showed up as promised and about a week ago I installed them and they worked perfectly. They came very well protected in their shipping cartons and were well documented for setting them up. They sound superb in my 5.1 home theater setup and are also great for just playing music. The speakers do a great job with highly dynamic sound passages and don't distort when burst of loud sounds occur in action movies. The sub is very powerful and not only provides great bass for music; but an excellent sense of realism with low frequency effects (vibrations) that make you feel immersed in the scene. I have a movie that has an actions scene with a firetruck that drives up and parks and idles next to the camera - it really felt like it drove into the room and was right next to us. These speakers are beautiful too and are clearly made with excellent craftsmanship. I could not be more pleased. I am delighted with my purchase.
The reviews were spot on. You can spend more money, but for a compact system for a small room you will not get better. The sound is clean and the sub really delivers. Will recommend SVS to anyone looking for a well-engineered and quality built system.
I bought the 5.1 Prime satellite system (hooked up to a Marantz SR5009) to replace an old Logitech Z5500 5.1 surround system on my computer. These speakers have far exceeded my expectations. They have more range, play cleaner and louder, and the surround aspect (in movies and games) is amazing compared to the Logitech's. these speakers are setup in a non optimal nearfield environment due to room constraint. Fronts and center are only 3.5 feet away from sitting position and surrounds are 6' away. The surround effects even with the speakers this close are amazing I don't know any other way to describe what I hear.
I went from Cerwinvega stereo in a box system to the satellites and a PB 1000. Im a bit angry now because when i listen to music in my truck that is mp3 quality i can hear the difference now LOL. The clarity of the svs system is crazy. You can hear things that you never heard before. Its crisp and super clear. The PB 1000....hmm where do i start..It is awesome. Bass like ive never heard before in a home system. My only complaint and it is a big one for me is that I got the piano finish on the satellites and didnt have the option on the dub. Set up was simple with my Denon X3100w. This is a high quality speaker system on a lower budget. I originally was looking at orb audio and Anthony Gallo speakers and I am glad I went SVS!
These are amazing set of speakers. I am not close to an expert on sound systems however after installing the speakers I had a movie on and went into another room. That is when I heard something fall and crash and break glass. Of course I rushed into the room thinking I had not secured the speaker on the wall and it must have crashed into the mirror below. You guessed it - the sound was from the movie. These speakers literally bring the dialogue and sound into your room and that has the effect of actors and scenes are right there in your room. Awesome speakers hand down!
Replaced some monopolar L/R/C with the Prime Satellites and replaced old sub with SB-1000. What a difference. I could not be happier. Center channel dialog is much cleaner now. Very detailed front soundstage. I could not believe this was coming from such small speakers. Used to have some old towers before the wife made me give them up. The sound reminded me of those days. I am so happy, I ordered 3 more satellites for the surrounds to complete the 6.1 system.
I had been thinking of upgrading my speaker system for some time. I learned about SVS through Sound & Vision magazine. All the reviews were glowing, especially for the Prime Satellite System._x000D_ After a rough year I finally decided to treat myself to a nice Christmas & purchased the 5.1 system. The first thing I noticed about the speakers was their massiveness in relation to their size. It spoke well to the quality of these speakers. I dismantled the old system, set up the Prime 5.1, & sat down to test drive it. I prefer quieter pieces of music (acoustic, folk, classical) so at first I only got small hints of the abilities of the SB-1000 subwoofer. These speakers performed wonderfully. They conveyed a depth that was previously lacking in my system. The vocal reproductions were angelic to say the least-clear & clean & no distortion. These speakers are so good I could even detect the less-than-perfect engineering of older recordings. To test the SB-1000 I decided to fire it up by playing scenes from Master & Commander followed by Gettysburg. Suffice to say my attention was grabbed immediately. I now have to turn down the volume as there is full & total reproduction of the low end, again, such as I have never experienced in my home system. Long story short, if you're looking at a 5.1 system in the $1000-2000 range, SVS hits it out of the park. Add in their top-notch customer service (I peppered them w/several calls, chats, & e-mails) and, folks, we have a winner!
This system is very high quality, not even just for the price. Even though the satellites only go down to 69hz, I didn't feel the mids were too lacking when paired with the SB-1000. _x000D_ I did, however, decide to order the bookshelf system and PB-1000 to see how they compare. I will update when I've made my decision on which system to keep.
