I bought this to replace my 5 year old Swann 4 camera analog system. That system was basically useless at night. The images were blurry and limited in range. After one of the cameras lost its infrared capability, I decided I wanted to upgrade. Since this new system used BAC cables, I thought I could save time by just replacing the cameras and the DVR. After setting it up I found that I was only getting 960P pictures on the 4 cameras using the old BAC cables and not 4K as with the the 4 cameras with the new BAC cables. A little research let me know that the new blue/ purple connector BAC cables were much higher quality than the old ones with the yellow connectors. So it was back to crawling around in the attic replacing the 4 old cables. WOW what a difference! These cameras show so much more detail during the day, but really stand out at night. They are like looking at a black and white TV. The range is further, the viewing angle is wider, and the detail is outstanding. I have to get a 4K TV to use as a monitor, but using google home, I can stream individual channels to my 4K TV downstairs.
The camera is quite clear and does a good job but the attachment is quite flimsy compared to the one it is replacing.
The picture quality is amazing. I went online and used there video tutorials to set it up. I set it up on a table in my house before i ran wires and mounted the cameras. Setup is simple if you follow the step by step video tutorial. The picture is amazing and the night vision is awesome! So far the few flaws that I have found are: 1. The instructions in the box are almost non-existent. 2. The mobile software for the iPhone is horrible. The image quality is horrible. I have a Nest camera and their mobile app stream very good! Why can't they make a better mobile viewing app? 3. The mouse has a cord. Come on people this isn't 2003. You can do better. 4. I also wanted to view my cameras on my laptop but they don't advertise a website or an app for that. I googled it and found it hidden away. This app is just as bad as the mobile app. I would think Swann could hire better software developers to create something that is user friendly and has a good quality stream (like Nest). But overall those few flaws do not warrant a lower rating. I would say it would be a 4.5 rating because of this inconvenient flaws.
We purchased this 8-camera, 16-channel 4K Ultra HD DVR Security System and have absolutely loved it. We don't have a 4K television yet, but the picture is still absolutely amazing with these cameras on television we have! Great pictures on phones too, and never ceases to send a notification at the first sign of movement. With the proper installation and taking time to adjust the many settings to fit your surroundings, we guarantee you will be happy with this system! It was easy to install and with the proper settings, the system is absolutely perfect!
I setup my system to cover all areas around the house, with 4 cameras, the system is easy to install after viewing the support videos, impressed with quality of the picture with the 4K camera's, its a great shame that picture via the App on my mobile phone is not as clear as you get directly on a screen, Good product slightly let down by the mobile app, Also would have preferred a solid state disc so that it minimizes any noise from the base station. I would still recommend it as its a quality product and easy to install.
I recently purchased this unit and installed it last week. Overall instalation was relatively easy if you have good access to your roof space. I was able to mount the cameras and then insert the camera leads into the roof space which allowed me to connect them once I was in the roof space - so no need for a second person. The mix of cameras worked for my situation with the 2 cameras with spot lights set up nicely at the front of the house. I am still working through the alarm settings and am receiving notifications from activity outside the zones I have set up which is frustrating. The Swann Security App is pretty good and allows you to view your cameras relatively quickly. I have not delved into the search feature to find video clips but my initial look was positive with many search options available. This system can not be set up with Google assist as advertised as the Swann Security App is not compatible. Be aware that there is a similar Swann security system available as NVR which offers additional features such as microphones with audio and 2 way audio which this system does not offer. Overall this is a good system to cover a standard 4 bedroom house. I just need to work on the alarm settings to get less notifications.
Bought them Sept 13,2019 and didn't get them till the 24th. A little disappointed on that but got them installed that day and happy with the results. I just hopped that the quality on the smart phone's was better. I understand that's is going on wifi but even in the house the quality sucks but it looks amazing on the television big plus on that. I just wish I would of gone with the 8 cam system instead of the 4.
It is NOT 4K the quality is between 1080 and 5MP but definitely not 4K. Does not show clear images even from 25 feet distance even with extra lights. I had to update DVR using USB stick to use any of its features like lights, alarm, heat detection - all of these features are laughable specially the alarm and heat detection. It doesn't detect anything special like it says "face and license plate recognition" you cannot read the number plate even from a distance of 25 feet. You also can't use some features on more than 1 camera at a time such as Line Crossing.. WHY? It says it doesn't false alert over leafs, wind blowing, well mine records all that plus it starts sending alerts even if there's changes in the sun light.. and so on..... This system is very much unreliable it records over a leaf's movement but does not record when someone walks into your drive way to check on your car doors... Mobile app is another story... DO NOT RECOMMEND.
I bought this a month ago and wish I hadn't. The cameras lose connectivity with the DVR. I must disconnect and reconnect for them to restart. They have agreed to replace one, but now another is doing it also. And they require the camera to be sent back before they will replace. I have installed the problem camera 2 stories high. And because their processes are so arduous I wish I had gone with someone else. The software on the DVR is not intuitive.
I bought this DVR couple months ago lights and sirens dont work, firmware says it up to date.... teck support wasnt helpful, very poorly trained. not what id expect from a multi billion dollar company
