I installed these cameras yesterday to see great pics of my front door and with another camera my back door. But woke up this morning to look at them again to find blurry pics because of rain water. The box and this website clearly show the camera outside in the rain in photos with no problems. I shouldn't have to wipe clear my cameras each day it rains to keep images clear surely? I know there are other cameras available with the hooded option, but i didn't go for these as this camera as I said, clearly showed it outdoors, and said it was weatherproof in rain and snow. It may be weatherproof in terms of working and recording but if you can't see the images then whats the point?
Had them at work for quite a few months now and always had poor motion detection regardless of settings, sometimes it would detect a car driving past and record for the full minute and other times it would record someone walking around the front gate for 10secs even though they were still moving, other times it would record 3 videos for the entire day even though there was a lot of motion happening. Decided to take them home and could not even get past the pairing section "device setup failed" cameras hotspot would just keep dropping out then coming back over and over so they are being returned, I would not recommend these to anyone I know.
I bought two of these cameras to add to the 4k Swann NVR system (ethernet) I have. I have located them so that the wifi reception on each camera is between 96-100% however they are almost useless as live view cameras. They drop out all the time, if you tap on a camera to expand live view then go back to main live view the other one often drops out. Making changes to the cameras settings is a nightmare as often the cameras are offline. I dont know whether its just another aspect of the simply dreadful Swann Security app or it is the cameras themselves. I suspect its the app, as often a force close and restart of the app allows you to see live view again briefly before they drop out again. These cameras seem ok at picking up and recording motion, but they are not fast enough to catch someone quickly entering the field of view and often only start recording someone once they are well into the field of view of have left completely. So for live view cameras they are useless, for capturing events they are pretty slow at starting recording. I have wasted a lot of time trying to get them to works as advertised so will be returning them as they are simply dreadfully unreliable in live view, and too dim witted in recording events.
Poor battery life and reliability, I've had to replace three of my original four cameras. Also don't respond fast enough to be useful in capturing activity eg a person can be gone or almost of our shot before the capture begins. Probably make better paperweights than security cameras.
Ever since purchasing my wireless Swann cameras, I've had nothing but headaches. Poor quality especially at night, constant notifications of alerts even though settings have been altered to try mitigate the amount of notifications received. The time it takes to literally load the camera is absolutely shocking!! Delayed and then once it finally loads it stops showing live feed. It's situated almost next to the router so it's not a wifi connection problem. Tried selling them but the dogs ended up having new chew toy, surprisingly still have some usability to a degree. Don't waste your time or money on wireless Swann cameras.
I tried these cameras for 2 weeks to keep an eye on my dog in the backyard and it was a terrible experience. The cameras have so much lag and take so long to boot up that its completely pointless. The motion censor worked maybe 10% of the time and in those times it took so long to reboot that you miss everything. The speaker is actually a joke, literally is inaudible. The wifi signal gets lost, even though i have excellent internet and a very good router. I had to go through the connection process for the camera 3 times in 1 week, meaning when i checked the cameras when i was out i couldnt see anything. Seriously, dont take a chance with the bad reviews like i did, this product is pure garbage.
After several hours with tech support, the technician finally gave up and told me to use another phone. So i downloaded the app on my wife's phone, which had a different Android version, and the pairing process started to work. The cameras go offline for no reason, so based on what i read, the router has something to do with it. All I'm saying is that this is not a camera for someone who is not technical.
I've had the 1st gen of these camera for about 3 years now. They used to work great however the constant updates have destroyed their usability. The original app used to work great but since the new app came out, there are constant drop outs and I cannot stay connected to the camera for more than a minute. I decided to buy the 2nd gen as they were on special thinking that there would be improvements. Boy was I wrong. The supposed 1080p is still the same quality of the 1st gen. They they now have this fish eye view which wrecks the experience. The 2 way audio is so faint that you need to be 30cm away from the camera to hear it. The feed on the app still cuts out after a minute of viewing. You must restart the app to reconnect to your camera, so I don't understand the concept of a reconnect button as it doesn't work. There are just too many negatives to writing. I will test it for another few days before I return them to the store. Disappointing to say the least.
Bought this months ago and it is the worst camera hardly picks up on anything with the sensitivity Up max they never work you can never acces them when you want to. Don't waste your money
2 cameras replaced under warranty- only 1 of the replacement cameras still working - in my case the first 2 cameras stopped working within 12 months - of the 2 replacement cameras 1 lasted just over 12 months and the 2nd replacement camera works when it wants to
