The Swanson Torpedo level is well made and drop proof where there is no chance of level breaking if it hits an object. The magnet are strong enough for placing level on metal and level stays put. The magnets do not interfere with level so you'll a accurate reading.Level had no lights but bubble is easy to see and read in a fairly lit area. Over-all Swanson level worked great for me.

This small torpedo level is outstanding in quality. It has all the tools you need for leveling or finding plumb. It is magnetic on one side and great for leveling u pipe or finding out 1/4” off plpe per ft. The level is within .029 correct. No one is that good to out of level with the naked eye. It has an orange hue to the color so easily seen in tool box or laying around on the job site. It is made of aluminum and is great for for all those jobs needing a smaller level.

This is a awesome tool to have around the house for everything from leveling pictures and doing framing work around my home ....I use it the most hanging up my pictures on the wall ....it is so precise in accuracy....and I love the magnetic capabilities as well ....this is a must have item for your home ....it's quality, selection, durability and accuracy is the best for the value and product that you get ....

I have always chosen the less expensive route on levels. Once I seen I had a chance to get this level I jumped on it. The aluminum frame makes the level extremely strong and rugged. The magnets help hold it in place while using it on steel . It also has a groove to help keep it centered on a pipe or round parts. Great product!

I have owned and used dozens of torpedo levels over the years and none have really stood out. That changed when I unboxed this version of the classic level from Swanson Tool, aptly named SAVAGE. The build quality is absolutely the best I have come across in this category. Precision milling of the leveling face leads to .029 degree vial accuracy. It features 4 leveling vials placed in 0 , 90 , 45 and 30 degree orientations, perfect for gauging conduit bends. Nice thick aluminum surfaces with 4 extremely strong counter sunk magnets. I like this aspect a lot after working with cheaper alternatives with surface exposed magnetics that threw off the level after a few years of use and abuse. Perfect for welding, conduit and other steel work. With its Lifetime guarantee, this is one of those tools you can buy, throw in your bag and rely on forever. Definitely worth a little extra cash up front to have a quality, reliable tool.

I am beyond impressed with this Swanson Tool Co SAVAGE 9-Inch Magnetic Aluminum Torpedo Level with 4 vials. The solid aluminum build is very sturdy and I know it will not bend or warp, unlike some of the cheap and thin aluminum ones I've had. The weight also feels very nice in my hands. I love that the level measures four of the most common angles of 0°, 90°, 45°, and 30°. That in itself is very unique and unheard of, and especially impressive considering those four vials fit into this small 9 inch level. I really like that one side is bent in at a 90° angle so I can use the level on an edge if the level cannot fully sit on the surface. Having the other side filled with four super strong magnets makes it very versatile to use on magnetic surfaces or for storage. For example, just one of the four magnets allowed it to hang firmly from my workbench. Lastly, I will mention that I really like it having measurements stamped right on the edge to eliminate needing to also pull out a measuring tape. There is so much to like about this Swanson level, and this little 9 inch tool just made me loyal to the brand. Highly recommended!

I needed a small level, and it's magnetic which is sweet for metal studs. I installed a shelf in my unfinished portion of my basement to hold some tools and this held on perfectly to the stud. It's got many different options to view different angles and a small ruler. I plan on using this again for my next project!

I received the SWANSON TOOL CO SAVAGE 9-INCH MAGNETIC ALUMINUM TORPEDO LEVEL with 4 VIALS, MODEL TL043M at no cost. The following is a true and unbiased review. I’m a DIYer and this is one of THE BEST tools I own. It is a QUALITY level, has FOUR VIALS (0, 90, 45 and 30 degrees.), a 7-inch ruler and is magnetic on one side (super-strong NEODYMIUM MAGNETS). Once you pick it up you’ll feel and see the quality of the level. The thing that I most like about it is you can see the vials through the side of the level—not a feature on most levels. Bottom line…this is a very impressive tool. This product and all SAVAGE PRODUCTS are engineered and designed in the USA, but is “Made in China.”

This is the nicest level I own. It is a great size for most handy tasks. It is made of high quality aluminum with a great burnt orange paint job. It has a 30 degree angle finder as well which was a nice bonus. Especially if you do any roofing. It has a good heft to it which lends to its quality. I expect to get many years of service out of it.

This is my first good quality professional torpedo level. I've had several small plastic levels that do the job. This one is solid but not heavy. Both leveling surfaces are machined with a coarse pattern. Machine work is a bit rough in places but that only affects appearance. One way to test a level is to set it on a slightly unlevel surface and make sure it reads the same in both directions. This one does. It has a flat side for flat surfaces, and a v-notch side for pipe and conduit. The flat side has four magnets which hold it in place on ferrous surfaces in any position. They're strong magnets, but not too strong, so it can be easily removed. Good quality torpedo levels are used by pipe fitters, plumbers, electricians running conduit, machinists and millwrights. I'm more into woodworking, but I also built and maintain our house and my woodworking shop. Most of my levels are several times the size of a torpedo level, and more precise. Still, I use this for things like making sure the garage door rails are plumb. And it's handy on some woodworking projects where a four-foot level won't fit. It has four bubbles... one for level, one for plumb, and two for offsets (30 and 45 degrees) in pipe and conduit work. I recommend it for trades requiring one, and for hard core handyman projects.
