Swanson Tool Co 4 and 1/2 in Solid Aluminum Speed Trim Square w/ Scribing & Quick Angle, Model S0145

This is one of those tools that you will find yourself wondering how you've done without for all of this time. Any kind of raptor Square or speed square has about 30,500 different uses. Every one of them is unique but this one is so well-made and also made in the USA, which I love. I've added to my growing collection of speec squares. I highly recommend this one.

A small Swanson tool specially designed for 2x4 lumbers, it is convenient for marking the lumber center lines for drilling and provides the common edges for angled cuttings.

I am not certain how I ever got along without this speed trim square. It sure is a blessing during the installation process of installing 11/16 quarter round on my workshop and garden shed. Sure is nice getting a professional looking job from myself who is far from professional caliper. This speed trim square contains so much useful information. There are markings for 22 1/2 , 30, 45 and 67 1/2 degree markings. There is a 3/8 inch drill guide. Dual reference for 1/2 and 3/4 inch. A 3 1/2 inch diamond mark. An 1/8 inch scribe bar. And this unit is constructed of high grade aluminum alloy and all of that with easy to read markings.!! One is only limited by their imagination!! Just super handy to have near by.

Love this speed square. Best of all, it’s USA made, but this is a very high quality piece of equipment with a lot of features. The indentions for all the markings are deep enough to be easily read even when covered with a layer of sawdust. This is just a 4 ½” speed square so if you’re working with 6” or larger pieces of lumber you’re going to want a larger square, or at least be ready to flip this one to cover the width. Swanson Tool Company has a very good product here. I love the fact it’s aluminum and not plastic. I’m not worried about breaking it and the markings should last just about forever. The forged-in drilling guides help create reproducible results when building hobby items and the scribe bar is going to help me mark and cut my kitchen cabinet crown molding. Actually, there are a lot more guides on this Swanson Speed Square than I know how to use, but fortunately there are a lot of online videos to help me learn. And again, very important to me is this tool is designed and made in America. It’s good to have an American company creating quality products again, and I’ll happily purchase from Swanson Tool.

This is an extremely durable speed square a little on the small side, about 4 1/2" by 4 1/2" (length and width). The material it's made of is very thick. This isn't going to bend when in the toolchest. All of the relevant places for markings are here including scales in inches with the degrees marked down the angle. One side has a raised lip, as would be expected, to catch the end of your board or whatever material you're marking to cut. This is a quality tool that'll be around for generations.

I have the aluminum speed trim square made by Swanson Tool Company. This is model number S0145 and is the 4-1/2 inch size. This is a handy tool to have on hand when doing cabinetry, molding, or trim work. If you are not a handy person dabbling in cabinetry, molding, or trim then you will not have much use for this tool. However, for anyone in the trade or for anyone doing their own work on the side it is a must-have. This tool has a three-inch Diamond mark. It also has very clear markings that are easy to use and appear to be fade-resistant. Another great feature is the scribe bar. It has a scribe bar with guides milled every 1/8 inch. There is even a hole milled 3/8 inch from the inside edge which makes drilling holes centered on 3/4 inch stock easier. This seems to be a great tool and one that will last you for a long long time. It is manufactured in the United States and they used a high-grade aluminum alloy construction. You will love this tool and I highly recommend you run out a grab one to add to your toolbox!

Excellent little speed square. Easily fits in the pocket or utility pouch. Mine is nice and square. The color fill could be a little better. Mines missing some lines filled in. It's nothing i can't with though. Overall solid construction. All measurements are spot on. If you are working with trim, it's a great tool to add to the arsenal. Has some good features for a little square. 1/8in scribe marks, guide for drilling center on 3/4in materials, and the dual reference base (1/4in & 3/8in) for finding center on 1/2in and 3/4in. I'm glad I picked up this square. Never hurts to have the right tools for the job.

This small trim square, a miniature framing square, has lots of cool features that make it really handy compared to something larger. In particular, it has some quick 2x4 markers, like the diamond cutout at 3 1/2 inches shown in the photo, that let you quickly mark places to cut or nail framing. Not sure how useful this would be for trim, since I use my compound miter saw for all those cuts, and don't mark much to make those cuts with the miter saw laser guide.
