I use this with the curtain motors to open and close curtains in my parent's Long Term Care home, since during covid I cannot enter and staffing is very low and my parent cannot open the curtain themself. The fact I do not have to worry the power cable will come unplugged or the battery will die, I so not have to worry this will stop. ALL Switchbot products should have this as a capability, so that the can work completely remotely for months.
I bought the curtain SwitchBot during kickstarter day. When it arrive and i got it installed, been loving it ever since. As my home desk is facing the morning sun, I was able to set the automation to close off the curtain when it detach certain level of light. And open again in the evening. Have since gotten more for the rest of the rooms.
Need a device thatcan provide a cinstant press. An example is a minentarycontact sswitchhatyouwant to close withcone action. Then open with another action.
Fine to complet a Curtain Bot Simply add a second hole to be able to adjust the length of the USB cable (no need to take out the entire length of the cable)
I have had the solar panels for over a year and never had to recharge the bots. curtains are facing south. your mileage may vary if you are facing a less sunny horizon.
I waited for approximately 2 years for SwitchBot to come to market and it works great! I Love the flexibility of being able to command them via Google Home. I would definitely recommend to friends and family.
The panel works well, you have different possibilities to mount the panel. The only thing is, the cable could be a bit longer, but that’s actually not a big issue.
Well worth the purchase. Love the automation to my curtains. I used no sew hem tape to connect 3 panels together, and this still has enough power to move them. Only 2 things: 1) the aluminum connectors are a great idea, but the tape needs to be re-enforced 2) instructions were a little unclear on how to connect to the Google Home, but eventually figured it out (you have to enable cloud). Happy with the purchase and looking at adding more units.
the switchbot does what it's supposed to do, the only issue I think is the mounting of the solar panels on the curtains. these have to be attached to the curtains with double-sided Velcro, but they come off every time. He has just moved our curtains of 2.50m x 1.80m on rings. The moment the curtain is behind a toy box, the switchbot stops because it becomes too heavy.
Set up was a breeze but my solar panels won't stay stuck to the curtain. I'm going to have to come up with a solution because I'm afraid that the cord will become damaged or snap because they keep falling off the curtain. I waited over 5hrs like the instructing said before attaching them to the curtain so I know it wasn't user error. However, I love the concept.
