Switchmate Slim On-Wall Indoor Smart Switch, No Hub Required

I love the portable app you can download. You can turn on and off a number of devices with your phone. It is so easy to install. No tools needed. One con though is the face plate has to be flat not concave or convex.

I use this in my apartment. The touch as well as the remote response has been quick.

It was on clearance and I thought why not. I would have given it a 5 star but sometimes it doesn't like to register on my phone. Otherwise easy to install. Works like it said it would (not so sure about the Google Home part, don't have it.)

I have to say, it's a good thing I got this cheap on clearance because I'm not terribly impressed with the features. I bought this for those days when I get off work after dark and nobody's been home all day--usually I'd either leave the porch light on all day or rely on a flashlight to see what I'm doing to let myself into the house. I thought something like this would be the end of that. Well..... kinda yes and kinda no. Yes because I can control it with my phone. No because apparently my parking space is a little outside of the device's range, meaning I still end up going outside in the dark before I can use this to turn on a light. Okay, so the device has a "welcome home" feature that turns the light on automatically when I'm in range? A handy feature... if it actually turned on at some point before I'm standing right outside the front door. Okay, what about the timer...? Still not quite there. The timer is probably the best feature of this thing, but it still messes up on occasion. I have it set for the same time of night, every night, but there will be nights when it doesn't come on, and mornings when it comes on despite not having any mornings listed.

With the exception of being useful for Google home Products, this item lives up to expectations. It is impossible to complete connecting to Google so that it can be used with the Google Assistant. Thus, it was a big disappointment. I will be returning it.

This might be good for apartments. The product itself is good and very rasy to set it up. Works for ne as well. I have returned it dud to google home compatability and range. It did not work all the times dur to a larger home. On a second thouy, I am trying wireless switch instead of this. The price of this is more when compared to the product features.

I'm giving it two stars because it is a fast way to turn any switch into a remote. But it appears that the Bluetooth is only effective when it's in range and the Bluetooth has to be active. What that means is when I turn on the app on my phone, there's about a 5-10 second delay until I can actually power off the switch. Also, the timer doesn't seem to work unless I've recently opened the app. On top of that, neither the Alexa nor Google Home apps offer the skills for Switchmate so there's no smart option. Until they can get that sorted out, it's just not worth the price.

Purchased in store and worked perfectly for 2 days. Then I got a firmware update that failed and now I have an expensive paperweight. Whenever I try to pair it with my phone it fails to authenticate. I contacted the company and they have to escalate the issue and will get back to me. No wonder these things are on clearance. It's to bad though, when it worked, it worked great. I'll never understand why some companies fell the need to update the firmware on things like this. It's just a little motor controlled by bluetooth.

Great Idea! Too bad is it full of issues and problems. Doesn't connect to anything like it's suppose too. Read everything online and still nothing useful. I wish I would have never bought it.

I have read everyone’s comments. Yes I agree with each of you. I contacted the company and they replaced 2 of mine at no cost to me because they stopped working. I received 2 new one and it says works with Google Home Assistant. It does not work with. Google. Also I have a Wink Hub 2. Contacting Wink they stated to me that these folks have pulled away from Wink and they are not sure when they will have a fix if at all. As for Alexa. They have no stopped working with Alexa and Amazon told me they have no reason why these folks pulled away from Alexa but they think it’s because they are trying to have their own voice activated switch. That isn’t working either. Suggestions. Stay away and purchase something more stable.
