Sylvania 10" Swivel-Screen Portable DVD Player, SDVD1030

I started out looking just for a portable dvd player that I could use any where. Ordered one and when it came screen was so small I sent it back. Good for kids in the car. Then I found this Sylvania with a 10 inch screen. It is great. Crisp clear picture, decent sound, easy to use. couldn't be happier.

Before buying this DVD player, I read some reviews that complained of low sound. I had no problems with the sound being low. It has a great picture, good sound. After charging the battery up for the first time, it played for 5 1/2 hours! The USB port is great! I've been watching movies from a memory stick and even hooked up external laptop speakers using the USB port for power and an audio wire from the headphone jack. It sounds great! I recommend it for the price.

I researched this item quite a bit. I read the good and the bad. In the end I decided to give it a try. It was cheaper than amazon and the return policy seemed easier to deal with just in case. It came less than 24 hours after I ordered it, that was an absolute shock to me. The picture is clear, the volume is perfect and best of all it lasted a 6 hour plane ride. I recommand this to anyone who is traveling with small child.

Ordered online (easy); item was ready for pickup in 2 days (fast). Unfortunately, after charging and making sure it was set to DVD mode, no matter what DVD I put in, the unit kept "loading" but not playing. I returned the DVD player to the store (no problem there). I was very disappointed as I thought this model had everything I wanted. So I took a chance and found a store that had this model in stock (make sure you call the store first as even though it listed online that certain stores had the model I wanted, when I called, I found out they didn't). After holding my breath, when I hit play IT WORKED!! I really like everything about this portable DVD player. The sound is good, the picture great - love the bigger screen - and feel that it was a great value for the money.

We bought this DVD player after buying and Returning several others. Others we tried did not have the battery charge time that they advertised. This unit actually played 1 hour (6+ hours) longer than advertised which is wonderfully refreshing! My husband is disabled and when the electricity goes out, he has nothing to occupy his time. This DVD player has great picture & sound. It's easy to operate. It would be really good for kids. I'm Very happy and would recommend it to anyone!

Good value. Volume control is a little tricky. Important to read the owners man to see how to change. The panel shows the up and down arrows, however, you have to hold them down to activate the volume. The max volume seems limited. OK, but could be a little louder at the max setting. Battery life is very good. All other controls are easy to understand. Picture quality is very good from almost every angle.

Bought this for a 12 hour car ride. My daughter watched movies the whole trip. Very easy to use, love the swivel design. Battery life was good and the car adapter being included was awesome. The only complaints are the buttoms. Very strange design. The pause button is also the volume up button and the stop button is also the volume down button. To pause or stop you do a single push, to change the volume you need to hold the button down.. The buttons do take quite a bit of effort to push and are quite loud. This makes the unit feel very cheap. It does come with a remote but I did not play around with it, it seems equally as odd. There are more buttons on the remote than my home theater system and very small ones at that. Overall the unit did what I needed. The sound and picture were great, the design and user interface are just strange but I can live with that.

i was afraid of getting it cause is my first one, but the reviews that i read about it helped me decide so thank you, and i hope my review would help someone as well. its great. i love the way it swivels to adjust it to your comfort, the way it folds into a tablet. the sound is very good the screen is very big so the picture looks great. like that it comes with a remote control. the battery life is really good i can watch up to two movies without it dying. Love that i can plug in my USB or insert my SD card, that way i don't have to carry a case of DVD's everywhere. would have been great if it had brought its own carrying case, i had to buy a i-pad's case but it fits pretty well, the size is perfect. i totally recommend it. and if you don't like it you can always return it. SO GO AHEAD AND GIVE IT A TRY!!!!!!!!!!

I bought the first one over a year ago, because the screen was larger than most portable DVD players, and we were not disappointed. The picture is larger and clear, and very good for viewing where there is not HDMI, such as outdoor or traveling viewing. You need to be a little careful about the tilt on the screen, or everything looks a little dark. The product is easy to use and clean. In fact, we liked this product so much we bought a 2nd one, since our power goes out frequently and the battery life is better than expected (3-4 hours), and we can plug it into a generator for recharging. The speakers could be a little clearer, but they are adequate. I often hook up external computer speakers to boost the sound. Nonetheless, good buy for the price.

I needed to buy a couple more portable DVD players, one to replace a unit that failed after a year and another as a new unit. The unit that failed may have been due to mishandling; this player looked almost exactly like the one that failed, and has the same model number. For a 10 inch portable player, this one was priced very competitively; I also liked how the old one performed, what with its volume control wheel next to the power switch. This new unit, unfortunately, even though having the exact same model number, does *NOT* have the volume control wheel. As other reviewers may have indicated, the volume reverts to the max loudness when you turn it back on, which can be very disconcerting. You also need to change the volume by remembering to long-press the STOP and PLAY/PAUSE buttons. Of the two units purchased, one worked okay, but the missing volume control wheel is a big drawback. The second unit was DOA. Argh!
