I bought one of these about 6 or 7 years ago and it's the best backpack I have ever had, by far. Lots of hidden storage zipped pockets, and large enough to cope with a weekend away, yet not too large to carry on my back when I cycled to work. The only downside is that some of the stitching round the zips hasn't lasted, which means that I now need to buy a replacement - but I'll be buying another one for its sheer practicality.
This is my second Drifter - after six years of heavy use the stitching on the earlier one started to come adrift. But it's a great backpack - large enough to keep a laptop and a change of clothes in for an overnight trip, but small enough to use on my daily cycle commute to the office. I like the many different pockets - sure, I occasionally forget where something is, and all those zips may add something to the weight, but it helps keep things separate (and some are reasonably well hidden from pickpockets).
The Targus Drifter II has some great features and lot's of compartiments that can hold alot more than just your laptop. I was surprised it could even contain my large DSLR camera with the lens detached and a lens, together with my 13" macbook pro and a Book.. it still has lots of space to hold my sports wear, external harddrive etc. The Drifter II feels solid and very strong, when carried on my back it feels comfortable thanks to the ergonomic padding they have added on the back and the straps. I needed a good backpack because I really do not want damage to my macbook, that the bottom has a stiffened armored solid feel and water tight protection also made me choose this backpack. The features and quality feel
Beautiful, strong, practical. Exactly what we were looking for.
This bag has lots of space and different areas to organize all the things I need to carry daily. It is also very durable and light.
Targus continues to provide exceptional practicality, durability, style, and affordability. Product is highly recommended.
Fantastic all purpose backpack , both for work or travel its sturdy , practiv=cal and comfortable
Absolutely fantastic bag, honestly would give a 4.5 if I could. I no longer suffer from a sweaty back when traveling, the padded back is perfect. Storage is enormous inside and can be organised as you desire. The only thing I would want more is a little bit of padding on the straps, it's not at all uncomfortable to carry but having the pads would elevate in my opinion. I would still recommend this bag to anyone, I think you really get alot for your money here. Delivery was also quick.
Bought this for my husband. He had an old Targus backpack, which had a similar (yet different) layout and he likes that a bit more. No faults with this backpack, but he just liked his old (but needed to be retired) backpack more.
I purchased this bag just over a year ago and its already starting to split at the bottom so I would not exactly say this bag is 'tough & durable'. Worst of all, if I am wearing this on my back for a long duration, for example, walking around an airport, the zips on the laptop portion of the bag, work their way open exposing your personal belongings. there have been multiple occasions now where I've had people approach me to say did I realise my bag was open, I'm now having to keep the zip handles tied together with a rubber band to prevent them from opening. Given I've spent more than I normally would on a backpack in the hope it would last longer, clearly turned out to be a waste of money so I will be avoiding Targus in the future.
