Dock works like a charm, lots of ports/USBs for peripheral devices - great device.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The DV4K is a perfect solution for my work-from-home workstation setup. As most people have experienced this year, I need to have a workstation at home where I can be just as productive with my laptop as if I were in the office. This docking station helps me do just that! At my workstation, I've got dual 4K monitors, a keyboard, mouse, and external SSD all hooked up and this docking station connects it all together like a champ! I love the convenience of plugging in a single USB-C connector to my laptop to transform it into a full desktop setup. It's super easy to connect and disconnect when I want to take my laptop to the couch or back porch. The 100W charging capability is more than enough for my laptop and it charges the battery about as quickly as its dedicated power adapter. In addition, the 4 USB 3.0 ports are great! I like to keep a 1TB SSD drive in an external enclosure connected to the docking station for quick backups. I get great throughput and have not noticed any slowdown when copying files compared to having the drive directly connected to my laptop. I also love the built-in gigabit ethernet port: My ultraportable laptop has Wi-Fi only, but the port on the dock is great to get extra throughput and reliability when I'm at my workstation. Overall, I'm very happy with this dock. It's a big upgrade to my work-from-home setup and it helps make staying productive at home easier.
This is the best dock that I have ever used because unlike the Dell docks, this one just works! Plus the little touches make a big difference. For example unlike any dock I have ever used, devices suck as the NIC and sound card in device manager are named "Targus Ethernet" and "Targus Audio" making it nice and easy to identify instead of some cryptic name. THANK YOU TARGUS!
I've been searching for several years for a dock that works. None of the docks offered by HP will provide multiple display support and charge the Spectre 15, because it requires 90w of charging power delivered through the USB-C port. This unit works, and works flawlessly. Thank you Targus!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since I have been working from home, I have wanted to keep my laptop connected to my monitor and keep it charging also. Now I have an easy to use docking station with 100 watts of power! My USB-C connects easily to the HDMI port and charges my laptop while I am working, all from one box. It doesn't get any easier or clearer than this. There are other features that I have not used yet, but now I look forward to finding a use for it. This definitely cleared up my work station and got it less cluttered. Thank you
Works great with 2 screens but wish it had the newest usb ports. This is the weakest link in my set up since my computer has USB-C 4.0 Gen 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports and USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 Ports.
Seems to be pretty good. Except occasionally, it seems to fail (monitors blink and go blank). Unplugging the device for a couple minutes seems to solve the issue. Is it overheating ??
This is really a dock for office workers... and from my experience it works just fine for that. For video editing/photo editing/gaming this is not your docking station. The video drivers default to the internal Targus drivers (according to Targus there is no way to change that). Understand Thunderbolt 3 compatibility vs. it being an actual Thunderbolt 3 dock... it's not a Thunderbolt 3 dock. That marketing can be a bit misleading to consumers given the wording and price point.
It keeps disconnecting to the monitors and I'm having to restart the dock on regular basis
Had this just over a year and now my Ethernet works for 5 mins and then dies. Re-booting helps to restore as does unplugging and plugging in the Ethernet cable--but obviously I can't do that 5-10 minute intervals all day (couldn't even finish this message). Expect more with this kind of investment....disappointing.
