This TV is amazing. We live in a rural area and only have Internet and an over the air antenna for our tv reception. The smart tv features and the ROKU system make this tv one of a kind. The extra stations you get are endless. My son has a smart tv and was amazed with ROKU. The remote with the headphone jack is great as well as its simplicity. Set up was very easy. Avoid the negative reviews about this tv in regards to picture quality etc. The features far out weigh those. Once you get away from a store comparison, they all seem similar. Very fast shipment from Walmart.
I have set up this television and love the picture and the sound. This was a great purchase. Love this tv.
Purchased this Roku TV because I had free high-speed Internet in my new apartment. I am enjoying being cable free and have found the programming to be everything that I need. The 43 inch TV is a good table top size and it's not heavy to move [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Had it for about a month. Color was a little tricky to get right but for the price you can't go wrong. Picture is absolutely amazing! Works good on ps4 and pc.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this for a year and a half and it's still great. My only complaint it's the remote needs to be pointed at the sensor on the TV or it will not register. I also wish I had purchased a Roku product when random channels still existed
If you read reviews on TCL televisions, you'll find that they are generally solid. The recurring issue is the picture quality, and that's been consistent with my experience. In fairness, they are not priced comparable to brands offering outstanding screen specs. But it's decent and there's notable difference when watching OTA HD programming versus SD. That said, this TV excels at being a "jack of all trades, master of none". The integrated Roku works brilliantly. There's ample sockets for a variety of peripheral connections. I compared the TCL UP130 (2016 model) to the TCL 430 (2017) and the major specs are identical. What is different is the 430 has slightly better speakers (although most will opt for a soundbar or the like) and the 130 has an "enhanced" Roku remote. This gets you a remote with a 3.5MM audio jack for earbuds and a remote finder button on the back of the TV. Fair trade-off for a lower price and otherwise identical specs to a current model. There is a USB port that allows connecting peripherals and I'm using it as a media drive. I believe the TV can be used this way as a DVR, if desired. The TV has Roku Media Player to access the media, although there's Plex and Emby channels for enhanced options. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
It took me some time to get used to the unusual remote and interface which requires many necessary steps just to watch TV. What I can't get used to is the freezing and self-reboot experienced at random times while watching TV or a movie. TCL Customer Service is designed to waste time and create frustration. After the first attempt at unplugging for 5 minutes and pressing the power button, they have nothing. So they begin a series of "will you please hold" and upon return, they want to do the same thing over again but now want you to attach a BluRay Player or other device. The process is a long and unnecessary series of trying to frustrate the customer so they can say you refused help. If the first "Reset" doesn't work they don't know what to do so they bury the customer in time-wasting requests. They refuse a real tech support person or a supervisor. I recommend avoiding this brand until they improve their product and their support.
POOR QUALITY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE I purchased this TV and after 8 months it failed. It has a beautiful picture and the Roku features are awesome. We loved it so much we thought of moving it out of the basement and into our family room to replace our Sony 55. However it failed out of no where. We contacted TCL who "concluded" that we broke it. Here is the excerpt we got in an email: Thank you for contacting TCL Online Support. According to the evaluation of our Service Department, your TV has a cracked panel. This damage might have occurred from transporting or moving the device or any other activities that might have hit the panel. The panel of the TV consists parts that are on the surface of the screen and inside of the screen. Therefore, there are cases wherein damages may not be visible on the outside, but are visible once the TV has been turned on. With this, we encourage you to check with the Retailer if they cover this type of issue with the TV. TCL reserves the right to exclude this type of damage from warranty claims as stated on the Manufacturer's Limited Warranty found on your TV's Manual. They determined this by me taking pictures of the light in the bottom corner of the TV as well as the over all TV. The TV has been sitting it its location since its purchase and there is not visible signs of damage to the outside. I called support, which was taken by a nice person in another country, the person just apologized and clearly didn't understand any of my questions. I simply asked if he could tell me how they can determine based on a few photos that it was damaged. He said he tech support specialists know these things. He again apologize and I asked to speak with his Supervisor, he said they are busy now, and would have to call me back. I have never and repeat never had a LCD TV break or just die. I have 4 other brands in my house, two of them 5 years old. Guess the old saying is true, get what you pay for. Maybe it was broken when I bought it and it finally failed. But to dismiss me without an explanation or do anything to fix it, is bad customer service. Lesson learned, learn from my mistake don't buy a TV from TCL
We were a little skeptical at first, but decided to buy this TCL brand tv anyway. Bad decision. We've had it for 38 days and 3 days ago it started acting up. Channels would not load and it kep turning off on its own. Today it completely stopped working. Screen is all black. Will not turn on or off. We are taking this tv back today. Never buying this brand again.
I just used it for 18 days and turn off by it self so I can't turn on anymore...
