I was looking for a television this size to upgrade our living room. We needed streaming and wanted ROKU without having to have a separate device. This fit the bill and could not have been a lower price. Needed one with a good wide screen viewing ability (this one was rated as 178 degrees Hard to beat. The final few degrees has a bit of screen deterioration but still good. Coupled with the stand we bought Whalen Payton 3-in-1 Flat Panel TV Stand (also from Wal Mart) it is perfect for our viewing area.
Loved the picture, need a voice remote to be more convenient, need to spend more time setting up comcast channels to receive regular channels, wish I could just press the up and down arrow, but you have to search for your specific show.
I love my tv. It offers so much so many net works. Movies, music, tv. Sounds and color are awesome and the price was a great buy.
Our previous television was a very nice Vizio from the 3D days, rocking a 240HZ refresh rate and very vivid 1080p resolution. My son had accidentally hit it was a ball though so a line went through it and after 6 months of living with it I decided to jump on a new TV as a stop gap between my children growing up and actually going for a much nicer device. I saw this was on sale for $279.99 and after checking out reviews I pulled the trigger. My most frequent uses are media streaming, football, and video games. I did not expect much from a sub $300 4K television as that's a lot of pixels for such a low price but after mounting it and balancing the colors based on rtings settings I was pleasantly surprised, this may actually be more than just a stopgap! The image quality is pretty great, not absolutely mind boggling but it is beyond the lowest quality I've used. While some colors are a bit faded (Moana doesn't have the same pop on this TV that my previous did) it's still very good. Games like Fortnite look great and colorful though. Football looks great as well, but I only catch and HD channel, not QHD so it was upscaled. That said the football didn't ghost and the motion was smooth still. The OS is hands down the best I've ever used. Roku OS will now be my go to if I can get it in premium televisions, it's that good. Super snappy, extra responsive and feature packed. Installing apps on the TV can be done on the device or the phone, having a remote on my phone is also handy as my children love to hide the remote. Do yourself a favor and download the pluto TV app as well, tons of free content both live and on-demand. Not a cord cutters solution but I could see it getting there. The speakers are just fine. There's almost 0 bass, but it's not overly tinny either. I set it to "conversation/speech" as that's the best audio it seemed to have. Shows like The Umbrella Academy, MNF, Blippi or even youtubers like Scott The Woz sounded fine on this. I will probably hook my bose all-in-one back up to this eventually. Wall mounts are higher than I'd prefer, so the TV sits about 8 inches higher even on the lowest settings than my previous one did, but installing was simple enough. 3 HDMI on a tv of this price range is also very solid.
This TV has been great so far (about a month). The picture quality is awesome and the menu is surprisingly easy to use. I thought I'd have issues switching to the Roku stuff I actually like it better than the Samsung or Sony menus. The only thing I don't care for is the placement of the mute button on the back side of the remote is right where I grip the remote so I keep hitting it accidently, but that is minor. Overall, this has been a great purchase, especially for the price. The picture quality seems better than my Samsung that is a couple hundred dollars more expensive.
So far so good, I have had it a week. The remote batteries died but that was an easy fix. The set up was very easy, the tv will walk through it just remember that it will hook to your wifi so have your password etc handy. If your household is already stretched with wifi usage try hardwiring aka plugging straight into the modem or router. Channel choices are huge and so it the "free" section. The graphics are clean and perfect and the sound is wonderful, but I leave in a lil efficiency so that may factor in. If you are placing this in a large room with high ceiling it is going to affect the sound. All and all this was a great purchase for me :)
I would give this TV five stars but it just keeps on unplugging from the internet and stuff like that. Some of the words are really light in certain areas I think they could be darker. Other than that it's a great TV. You can connect headphones to it.
This is perfect for those who don't want to pay for another cable box. You can plug it anywhere and it will connect to your cable. The drawback is the remote. There are about 5 or 6 steps to get to a program and you have to scroll through dozens of channels if you want to go to a much higher or lower channel. Picture is good not great but certainly fine for basement, garage, kids room etc.
The handheld remote device does NOT contain numerical keys in order to directly select a channel. Using the remote when one views a programming guide is arduous and extremely time consuming. Going from a traditional TV to a computer-driven TV is difficult enough. When the remote control device is missing the normal means of selecting channels to view, the device is USELESS.
Hate this TV. When i turned it on i had to call roku and spend $90 as a one time fee to even make it work. The sound is horrible. One minute its super loud, the next minute you can barely hear it. I have no idea what thats about. I do would not purchase it again
