Iâve had this tv for a year now and I love it. Iâve never had a problem with it and Iâam purchasing another one for my living room and my daughters room very soon.
As a college student, buying a new TV is a large purchase. After doing my research, I determined I wanted a TV 55” or above, the best quality possible, and must be $400 or less. This product far exceeded my expectations across the board. Price The most impressive part of this TV is the relatively low price when compared to other substitute products. If you were to look for a brand such as Visio or Samsung with the same specs (55”, 4K, built-in ruku, and more) you would have a hard time finding one under $500. This make me skeptical of this product because the price seemed too low for what was offered. Do not let the price fool you, this a a quality TV even though it is not a “brand name” TV. This is a perfect product for anybody looking for a quality TV at a very reasonable price. Picture Quality The 4k picture on this TV is crisp with vivid colors which makes it hard to imagine there being much room for improvement. This is a great TV for movie buffs, as well as the casual TV watcher. The colors came at a good ratio directly out of the box as did all other picture options. This is convenient for the average user, while still having more advanced options for those who are particular about different picture aspects. The wide range of options allow for the user to get the best picture for video games, movies, sports. These options are easy to navigate or ignore based on preference. Features The most notable feature of this TV is the built in Roku device. I have never a Roku device before buying this TV, but it was very easy to learn even for someone who has no prior knowledge. Next time I buy a TV I will likely buy one with a built in Roku again because it makes navigation between different inputs far easier. This TV is already very reasonably priced, and the Roku coming with the TV saves a large chunk of change for anyone planning to buy one separately. I also love the option of using a smartphone in place of a remote. This is perfect for anyone who owns smart phone and doesn’t like searching for lost remotes. One downside to this TV is there are no buttons on the TV itself so if you don’t have a phone handy and can’t find the remote, you can’t control the TV. The remote itself is well designed with few buttons which makes it perfect for users who are not particularly electronically inclined. Overall this is a Great product!
My husband bought me this tv and I have to say, for the price it is totally worth it. Although the remote is a tad small, it works like a charm. I wish all my televisions in the house were this brand. I have had no problems with it at all. I have all my cable, video game systems and everything all on with a click. Don't hesitate to buy one. Awesome tv for a low price!
I've had this TV for close to two months now with no issues. I love the features. I know it isn't the best TV, but you can't beat $398 for a 55" 4k smart tv. And the smart aspect of this TV is awesome. Only known issue - deep deep black colors don't present well on the TV, gets pixelated looking. So watching lightless night scenes can be annoying.
Ive had this tv for 10 month but just barley set up in August. Tv's been great so far but when i put the aux cord in i will turn it on and the screen will get plurry for a second which worrys me but i have not had any problems of the tv dying. I hear it might happen later on we will have to see. All in all its been great
After about 8 months, I've discovered two major problems. First, once in a while, half of the screen will either go black or present a freeze frame from a previous channel. Usually, changing channels back a forth once or twice will clear this up. Sometimes you have to unplug and plug in the tv. Annoying but not too hard to deal with. The second problem just started up and is mostly a problem when using the Roku side of things vs the cable box. The sound, on occasion, will cut out every few seconds for a second or two. Then it will come back. Then it cuts out again. Annoying. Some people have tried different sound settings and almost any change helps for a while, then it goes back. I have to use the RCA outputs with my older stereo. Maybe with optical or HDMI it would be different. Also, some thought that connecting right to the router would help. It did, for a while, then back to cutting out. I also have some movies on a thumb drive which attaches to the USB port. No wireless or internet to deal with and it still cuts out. You might end up using some of the money you saved on the purchase price to buy a new sound system. If I buy one and if that doesn't fix it, I'll update this review and let you know.
bought this tv on August 19th, 2018 and today I went to turn on the TV today and it wouldn't. the standby light wasn't light up either. checked the power cable. checked multiple Outlets. still no go. talked with their customer service. hoping to get it fixed or replaced under the warranty since it's not even a year old. very unhappy with this tv.
Top half of screen died at 9 mos after purchase and the entire screen shows dirty screen effect after 3 mos old. Thankfully i have a sewerage warranty not threw Wal-Mart and it was replaced with a non tcl
Plugged tv in to setup. Half of the screen was fuzzy. Called tcl to help with my problem. She had me unplug tv and hold the on button for 15 seconds plug back in . still fuzzy. Then she had me hold the rest button for 15 seconds. When tv came back on the entire tv went fuzzy. She wanted to send a tech out in 7 day to repair. I told her I just bought it not even an hour ago it's going back to Walmart. Thank you for the cheap TV but no thanks.
ATTENTION: I am very disappointed that this TV is NOT what TCL claims. They claim on the Box, TCL's Website and Walmarts Website that it is a 120hz (120 Frames Per Second Refresh Rate) when the PHYSICAL PANEL is only 60hz. They claim that their backlight etc. "makes the eye to appear to be seeing 120hz. OK but it is STILL NOT A PHYSICAL 120hz TV and can NEVER do a faster frame rate than the 60hz. This effects the 55" and 65" TV's. I actually took the Displays off the shelve with the Manager at my local Walmart and we VERIFIED that the Specifications Registered are 60hz NOT 120hz. TCL Tech Support confirmed this with me!
