We got this tv Christmas 2017 and the picture is still as good as our LG tv. We're getting the 65in this year. The review's I've seen that people are unhappy with this product maybe its how you handled it taking it home. Reading and following directions goes a long way! I recommend this tv 100% over any other brand! This tv has a better picture then your high $ brands.
Great TV!! I bought it a year ago and thr picture is great. As with all new tvs the audio is not the greatest but will do for now. Great for gaming and you can link it with Google home for voice control. On the gaming side very vibrant colirs and lag is onky 3ms which beats out the big names. The intergrated Roku lets you watch Netflix, Hulu and other great on demand streaming services, you can also watch live streaming live Sling tv, Philo, Direct tv Now, Hulu Tv, and others. It is one of the best budget tvs on tge market.
I did not write a review right away like most. I waited one year and a half so I would know what I was talking about. This TV has the best picture of any TV I have had and I mostly owned Visio TVs which I think are really good. The free channels are MANY and if you do not mind an ad now and then you will enjoy yourself,,, and mostly "It's Free!" I also subscribe to Amazon Prime and Netflix which are great! I never had a problem with this TV it is truly a good deal. Love it!
Great value , with roku and HDR make sure the box says HDR on it because Best Buy sells a model that they say is the same 55s405, but when you do the review on their site it says it does not have HDR, to buy a 4k without HDR is kinda useless more pixels yes but with out the color enhancement it is disappointing. Please note you must have HDR feed for this to work. More and more streaming platforms such as netflix and Hulu are now broadcasting HDR, you will have a HDR icon pop up in the top left of the screen at the beginning of the Stream. I went on line and adjusted mine to professional settings which can only be done through the roku app on your smart phone or tablet, get the settings from Rtings.com ps do not forget your 2.2 HDMI cable and to set the tv to that cable in the settings. Great buy and beats the competition by $1000.00 . Cannot say enough about the ROKU system, by far the best streaming platform out there IMO. I purchased the 4 year warranty for 66.oo dollars, a good ad on.
Our previous smart tv was a Philips tv, which was a little lackluster on the smart. So when it started going bad after only 3 years of owning it, we decided to just buy new. We previously bought a 32" TCL tv which was working well for us and we liked it, so we decided to go with the 55" 4K TCL. Its not a name brand we heard of before the 32", but the reviews were good so we decided to try it. Its only been a week so far but we are happy we gave it a try! The built in Roku gives you tons of app choices. The picture on the tv is excellent. Quite the upgrade from our 1080p tv we had. The smart guide for the local channels is great! No longer clicking through all the channels 5 times to see what's playing, all while trying to do that during commercials on half of them. I love that you can use the Roku app on your phone as a remote for several reasons. (1) its wifi enabled (I left the tv on and went upstairs to go to bed thinking my wife was coming back down to watch it, but she didn't. I used my phone from the bedroom to shut it off. Its the little things that please me) (2) with a child who steals remotes sitting on the end table, we lose them often, but the phone can take its place (3) by far my favorite feature so far, you can plug headphones into the phone and stream the sound to that while the tv is muted. This is awesome for me as I like loud action movies but cant watch them usually until the kids are sleeping, therefore have to watch them on the tv with the volume down. Not anymore. Plug the headphones in, switch to private listening and crank it. If you don't already have surround sound, this can help give you something similar while letting the kids sleep in peace. There is about a 1 second delay when the movie starts playing but the sound doesn't start, but I cant see this being a big issue. We did have one issue. When trying to watch Kodi on our firestick, we had blue streaking all over the place. In trying to solve the issue, I switched to the local channels and back to the input and it went away and has not come back. I read in another review that something like this may happen and the tv needs to learn the best viewing options for an input and then doesn't come back again. That seems to be what happened. Overall we love the tv so far and hope it lasts a long time. We also bought two additional 32" TCL's for the kids bedrooms. This family is going all in on TCL, so here's to hoping they don't disappoint.
The tv is amazing. Roku built in is one of the best innovations that any tv company has developed in the last couple of years. The HDR is not as good as the p series sold by Best Buy, but there is a 200 dollar difference. Picture is as good as tv's 200-400 dollars more expensive.
I've had it one month. The remote control doesn't work unless you're directly in front of the TV. Now, it turns on, but nothing happens (i.e. no picture, just a black screen). Now stuck with a $350 paperweight.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Wish I would have read and listened to the reviews. Backlight is out and TV is less then 2 years old. Money down the drain and they will not replace, only "troubleshoot" with you. Find another TV if you want something that lasts more then 2 years.
This Tv was a gift I get a call today 6-17-2021 and i was told this TV the picture is no longer working. What a let down She does not have this TV on all the time . It should have lasted a lot longer then 2 years ! It is not like she can go to a Walmart and return it she has no car and is an elderly. I am clearly upset over this and she should have a new TV sent to her home FREE.
Do not wast your time on this tv seem like a good price and it is but the tv will stop working in less than a year. The screen stop working one day and will not come back on. Now I have to spend money on a new tv and i am not happy i will never ever buy this brand again I am so disappointed. DON'T WAST THE MONEY get a different brand don't let the price fool you.
