This is the only way I will capture mice in my house. These are the best catch and release traps I have ever tried! They work every time! The mice can live in them for days also because of great ventilation and they are escape proof! The idea is not new and many traps use the same mechanism but this is foolproof- easy - and affordable! Large enough for larger rodents
I was extremely happy with the style and operation of this product, however I put 2 around to catch him but fortunately he left before I could catch him. The exterminator put poison packs and glue strips around, but I threw them away because I could'nt deal with that idea and immediately purchased the humane traps !
We set the traps using peanut butter on an almond and caught our little guy overnight - less than 12 hours. We took him to a field far away and let him go. One of the doors is a little hard to open, but these traps are great in both price and effectiveness.
These mouse traps work fantastic and are easy to use. We had an influx of mice this fall and have caught them all we think. Just so easy to use etc. Nothing to catch your fingers on or get snapped! Will be leaving them out with peanut butter in them to be sure. Sliding door at one end to place the bait and trap door at other end where mouse enters. So glad to have purchased these!
They definitely work for smaller mice. Our basement this winter became nearly infested. It was awful. We filled the holes we needed to, but the mice remained. I got these and my husband set them up. We caught about 6 mice. We did have a rat though. That rat was able to reach in and get the bait out but not get stuck inside.
Bought these to humanely catch and release mice that find their way into our barn. More than half the time when I check them, the trap has closed but there is no mouse inside. So either the mice get out, or the trap springs before the get in (somehow). I'm not sure which. But when I do find a mouse in one, I am happy to have them.
These work great as long as you release the mice outside soon after they've been trapped. As other reviewers have said, the mice can pull the door up and escape. That happened at least twice when they were inside for more than a few minutes. The traps have 3 major design flaws. First, the door should not have vent holes, their tiny claws can pull the door up with those. Second, the spring on the door needs to be much stronger. Third, the door needs to be a fraction of an inch longer so there is not a tiny space beneath the door, they can also get their tiny claws in that space and pull the door up. If they would make these modifications, the traps would work perfectly.
The design of the lightweight trap is fine---and should be very easy to use. But of the two-pack I received, one is totally inoperable because the release door is jammed in too far at a weird angle, disabling door from opening at all with the little release tab. So because I only got one trap out of the two-pack that I can actually use, I can't give a great rating on price or functionality. Don't know if this inoperable trap was just a fluky luck of the draw or overall poor quality control by the company. So I can't fully recommend. The traps that aren't disabled by poor construction, as mine was, should work fine on small rats or mice.
I set the traps in my garage many times. I would check the traps every day and they would be sprung and bait gone but no mice. I heard a trap close and waited to see what's happening. The mouse let himself out after eating the peanuts. They can open the door when they're done. The door spring is too weak for field mice.
I never got them. Instead, I got a box of bed/ dog pads that were delivered by a spark driver but Walmart wouldn't send a spark driver back to my home to pick them up for a refund. I have Walmart because I'm disabled, do not drive and hardly ever leave my house. Now I'm stuck with a box of pads that I don't need, don't have the item I ordered and I'm out the money. The Walmart agreement states that a spark driver can pick up items for a return and refund so why was I denied this option? I'm definitely disappointed considering how much I spend at Walmart each month on top of my subscription. This is very concerning to me for the disabled community that rely on delivery service to get the things we need.
