Team Associated Apex2 Sport Datsun 240Z RTR ASC30125 Trucks Electric RTR 1/10 Off-Road

Having purchased and enjoyed previous TA RTRs (RB10 and SC10 Pro 4), I didn't hesitate to grab the Apex2 240z, but it really came up lacking. Curious why the steering didn't re-center after taking a sharp turn, I removed the front upper plate to have a look. What I found was a serious design flaw. If the steering Dual Rate is set higher than 4, the steering rack hits the chassis as well as the front outdrive. If you turn the wheel all the way, in fact, the bushings pop out of the bellcrank due to the torquing. I contacted Horizon about it hoping for assistance from the seller, but they just referred me to TA. A couple other things to be aware of: this chassis comes with bushings, not bearings, which seems silly given the price, and that Traxxas and Kyosho both include bearings in their AWD RTR TCs -- at a lower price. And the picture on the box is not how the car looks. The body is actually too narrow for the chassis so rather than sitting low over the wheels, it must sit high above them to avoid rub. I'm a big TA fan, but this was a major disappointment.
