I've tried the 2 other styles. But I have mulch surrounding my house. The box style with no stake gets pushed around when pulling the few weeds that pop up. The other style is like one large stake. which gets buried and disappears. Still works well, but I don't like spent traps littering the mulch.
If I thought 2015 was bad for ant volcanoes in my yard, 2016 is worse, perhaps because our winter in Central Wisconsin was milder than usual. I had been able to keep up with spot spraying and Terro Ant Dust, but this year there were hundreds more hills, destroying the turf and creating bare spots. These stakes were part of my arsenal, because the ants would take the bait back to the nest and the queen would die, the cause of all ant production. Killing the workers by spraying them doesn't work if the queen is still in production.
I have tried many products before I found these stakes. This stuff works, period. I hide them outside around the perimeter of my house, making sure my nosy dogs don't find them. The ants quit coming into my house because they died outside. It's that simple. Didn't want to use the liquid spray or granules because of the animals' safety. This is 100% effective and worry-free. One less thing I have to worry about.
As I've aged, I have been digging up plants to put in large pots...easier to maintain...and it keeps me off my knees. These are fantastic and work extremely well to keep ants out of my pots.
Easy to put around your outside walls and it kills the ants and keeps them from coming in your home
This works for the types of ants I have around my house (there are a few ants it doesn't work for, so read the box). Whenever ants start appearing in the spring, I put these around my house and the ants are no longer a problem. It's a bait so they take it back to the nest, killing the whole nest. I prefer using outdoor treatments to indoor, simply because it prevents ants from coming inside in the first place. But if you live in an apartment, I'm sure the Terro indoor treatment would work well also, since the ants will take it back to the nest. Unfortunately, you do end up with a certain amount of dead ants in and around the bait station, so the indoor treatment would have more of the "ick" factor than the outdoor. I prefer the stakes to granules because I have dogs and outdoor cats, and they don't seem to mess with the stakes. But do be careful to make sure your pets don't chew on them. One criticism, I have trouble snapping the tap off, so I end up using scissors to cut it off which can spill a little of the liquid if you're not careful.
The picture is different than the product I ordered. The ones in the picture are easily reusable and the new ones are not. However, I highly recommend the product for getting rid of ants
I used this product with another ant-killing product when my home was overrun with ants during the Summer of 2016. Ants rushed to the other product but took no notice of Terro Outdoors Liquid Bait Stakes. Still, the ants disappeared. My gut feeling is that ants were not overly interested in the Terro product.
These are advertized as the bait stakes. They are refills only. I bought an 8 pack of refills from a different seller for $7.97. These were 2 1/2 times the price for the same thing. Save your money, folks.
I recently purchased the TERRO T1812 Outdoor Liquid Ant Killer Bait Stakes - 8 Traps based on the pictures provided in the listing. Unfortunately, the product I received does not match the pictures. The stakes I received are not as sturdy as the ones pictured, which were the ones I wanted. This feels like a bait-and-switch situation, and I am quite disappointed with the discrepancy. It is not right for the seller to display an image of something they are not selling, as it misleads customers and does not reflect well on the seller's integrity. product I wanted is the hard stakes like the pictures.
