Fast simple relatively accurate (for a strip)

Will M October 29, 2020

Test strips are never going to be as precise as using drops for titration testing or having water tested by a lab. However using these strips to do daily tests during new tank cycling and weekly tests to check for problems is very helpful. I still do drop tests monthly and anytime a test strip results looks questionable. But drops take a long time are messy and generally overkill for basic spot checking. There are other brands that test more things but they seem to provide questionable consistency in their results. Tetra's seem to be consistent and match almost perfectly with the titration test results. As long as you keep the strips dry and free of contaminates use them up by or discard them after the expiration date and have adequate color vision to make out the subtle differences in the results then these strips do a great job. I am very happy with them.

6 in 1 strips work great.

Grandmabear July 26, 2022

I bought this today July 26 2022 and once I figured out where the comparison chart was on the back of the label on the bottle it worked great. Now all I need is help figuring out to lower my alkaline in the water.

Not safe for snails!!

Shelbyrorrer February 22, 2021

I got this product two days ago because my tanks have been having high nitrates and low pH. It sounded perfect for what I needed. Ive already been doing weekly 20% water changes for my three guppy and mystery snail tanks and needed a little help keeping the nitrates down between changes. So I follow the directions and add it to my tank (last water change three days prior) and it dispersed quickly. It didnt take long for my snails to stop being active and Curl up. My fiancé sent me a picture while I was at work asking of one of my snails had died because she was upside down and her body was just hanging out. She had not died but was obviously not doing well. The fish were not phased by this treatment at all. I got home and did two 50% water changes using my normal dechlorinating drops. The nitrates are now high end of safe but the snails are more active and most of the fish are perfectly fine. One seems to have gotten too stressed by the changeout and Im unsure if she will survive. I am convinced this product would have killed my snails had I left it in the water much longer. I cannot say if it actually even helped my water levels because it was in there for such a short amount of time. I have had this tank running for 10months with fish in it for 9.

No scale included!

LaurenLaurenLauren July 13, 2021

I had the exact same problem everyone else mentions - no scale on the bottle to compare results! I called the 1800 number and got an email chart but the strip results are different to my strip! I have 6 tests the chart has 5. I was told the chart is correct - with no explanation. This is way too expensive a product to have customers try to guess answers in the middle of moving fish around. Im really disappointed with this brand!

Yuk

daizeegrrl November 28, 2020

I'm new to fishkeeping and and keeping a very close eye on water ph etc. This product was recommended but even with shaking it left little bits of white something on soil (black so it's really obvious) and driftwood. It just plain looks BAD. I didn't notice it with my other tank so much because I had white gravel in it. Not impressed.

No color chart

Fishplant June 30, 2021

I like the idea behind this product but there needs to be a better color chart telling the consumer what needs to be done in order to adjust the levels. The reading on the back of the box only tells you what the ideal color is for the tank. How do you find out how to make the wrong color the right color ? My hardness shows purple but the back of the box shows gray. Is purple to hard or to soft is my real question. I would leave a 4-5 star if the box included explanation on how to respond to colors and what the difference between all the color variations are.

Fish killer!

FishLover63 August 26, 2022

My first experience I chalked the kill up to user error. I had just moved into my new home and set up new aquarium. I have 30 gallon tank and therefore should add 3 capfuls. I waited over 8 hours before adding my fish (some over 4 yrs old) approximately 20 fishes of varying sizes. The next morning ALL were dead! Empty tank and reestablished using half the dosage. I am now 6 months in new home and my tank was doing fine with another 20 or so fish and one snail who was growing great. Decided to do a partial water change and added only half the recommended dosage again. This morning find 10 fish and the snail dead. I threw the bottle out and will never use tetra for my tank again.

Water turned from crystal clear to cloudy and with

Kryten February 21, 2021

Brand new tank being set up. Had added the Tetra Aquasafe first left 24 hours and added the Easy Balance. Following morning water was awful. Not added anything else and wondering if the Safe Start will help??Also not the amount added as it was provided correct for the tank purchased.

Worst product

Pburgmom January 2, 2024

I had an established 10 gallon freshwater aquarium. The only fluctuations I had were in nitrites/nitrates and those were rare. I added this to my tank with the last water change and have lost 5 fish so far and cannot stabilize my pH at all. I'm about ready to drain the tank and start over though I hate to lose the few fish and inverts I have left. I'll never use this junk again!

No Color Chart

Cichlid56 December 10, 2022

I paid $20 for this product and it does NOT come with the color chart the instructions tell you to compare your strips with. Your website should have a copy of this
