The Day The Earth Stood Still [DVD]

The first time I viewed this movie, I thought it was okay, but then I watched it a second time and got a lot more out of the movie and the message they were trying to convey. In the original DTESS, the main story line revolved around nuclear warfare, in this up to date version the theme is on man destroying the environment. The message was clear and I do feel that we are not far from our moment of truth: Do we survive or do we perish with the earth? Some critics derided Keanu Reaves for his portrayal of Klatu, as being too wooden. How could we expect a newly arrived alien to act just like us? The special effects were great and the theme of the movie was good. There were some things I would have liked to have been done different, but they were small things. Of course everyone has their opinion, so some may not like it at all, but the characters to me were a lot more believable than in the 1951 original. Overall I would give the movie a strong B+.

This version seam to be more beleivable than the first one. You could feel yourself being pulled into it.

GREAT MOVIE HATE IT DIDNT HAVE INSTAT WATCH

Remake of older movie.

Reeves does a good Klaatu the spaceman in this. He hardly ever blinks, if at all, but someone said that's just his normal acting style. I think he deserves better than that. The DVD arrived safe and sound and delivery was prompt. The packaging used kept it nice and safe until arriving at my home. Good price too.
