My horse loves these

skjs18 August 9, 2020

Finding lower NSC treats is hard, but getting easier. My 22 year old WB is on a low carb diet because of metabolic issues. With the bulk of his diet under 10% NSC, these treats work well for him at 12%. He only gets one at a time. They are soft and chewy and he inhales it when he gets it. The 6lb bag is reasonably priced for how many you get if you're not feeding whole handfuls (which shouldn't be happening anyway.)

A healthier alternative that my horses love!

SmartPaker Tanner August 15, 2021

These treats are a staple for my barn! The German Beet Treats are a moist, soft treat that all of my picky eaters love. Plus, I feel great feeding them because fiber is the number one ingredient. These treats do not include any preservatives or artificial flavors! I also keep these treats around because they are greats for hiding pills. I feel good about feeding these to my horses and they love the taste!

Buy these today

Holly September 23, 2020

These treats are far and away the favorite of our 36 yr old mare. Finding things that her old teeth can chew and that she likes is a challenge, but these are a great hit. The ones we have bought at Smart Pak are soft and easy to break into smaller chunks.

Great for Hiding Pills

Kaitlyn January 13, 2020

Got these to hide pills for my horse. He would probably eat the pill anyways but he certainly loves getting a treat for free. They're easy to pull apart, stuff a pill in, and smush back together plus I dont feel bad about them being a regular part of his diet because they're made with the good stuff!

Great Ingredients!

Laurie February 9, 2020

I was looking for a treat to give my horse that was all natural, wasn't filled with sugars and fillers. I break them in half, giving her a half each evening. I lost my last horse to metabolic issues and my current horse is a Morgan, so I'm very cautious about what I feed her.

"Crack" for horses ;)

De Niro June 10, 2018

Those are soooo good! My horse can tell the difference between those and Ms. Pasture! also, they are soft enough to brake them in half by hand or hide a pill in them and mold them in the ball. Sticky, so not for the pockets.

I've only purchased these treats once but will definitely be ordering more! My horse loves them & I like that they are nutritious. The large size is nice too!

Not for metabolic horses

KateCME March 30, 2020

First, these treats seem to be made from high quality, minimally processed ingredients. My horse liked them well enough. They're a little big - like a smooshed golf ball or a little smaller - but with a little effort I could split them apart. No complaints about anything the majority of people will care about. That said, my horse has (presumed) PSSM2 and is on a low carb diet of </= 12% NSC per day. These treats are "about 12%" according to the package. The first ingredient is beet pulp, which will have a lot if fiber and slow sugar absorption, but the second ingredient is "molasses products". I gave my mare half of one of these a day for about a week and it was too much sugar and she started having issues. If you horse NEEDS low carb for health reasons, these are not the right treats. If you just want something with lower sugar - carry on, this is a good product.

too many horses July 9, 2018

Since was advertised as "soft" I bought this as a potential alternative for giving my horse his daily pill. However it is definitely not soft enough for that but my other horses love the treat. They are kind of too big so I broke them up into thirds before giving to my horses.

Delicious

Moo Mom April 11, 2021

My horse knows full well when I have these with me! She's a treat hound, but truly loves these. My only request is that there at least be a choice for smaller sized treats. I've resorted to having my husband cut these in quarters (they're extremely hard to cut) to avoid giving her too much at once (she's an older Arab cross w/Cushing's & insulin resistance) & toting them in a sealed container for freshness. She's super appreciative, no matter the size!
