The Godfather Part II (4K Ultra HD + Digital Copy)

I do think this film overall is even better than the first film, though only marginally. The look of this film has never been better, presented here on 4k. The commentary by the director is basically the only extra so if you are looking for a ton of special features you will be disappointed. The video looks amazing. It is stunning. You do get a digital copy of the film, too. And at a very fair price. If you are a fan, or have never seen this film, this is a great deal. One of the best ever.

As originally planned, director Francis Ford Coppola saw The Godfather Part II as the second part of the story he began with Godfather, introducing not just the origin of the original Corleone, but continuing the story of Michael after he assumes the mantle of leadership over their crime family. In truth, the Godfather trilogy is best experienced just as The Godfather dyad, the two stories, but not the third. In this 4K transfer, The Godfather Part II stands out in the best format and presentation since its theatrical release. All the actors, including new cast member Robert De Niro, create a living world of New York's mafia world and we, the viewers, are invited right in from the start. The set design, production, and everything, to be honest, is fabulous and Oscar winning. You cannot own The Godfather without The Godfather Part II, and this is the best way to own this home version of the film.

Disclaimer: I have decided to copy and paste this review which I made for The Godfather 4k. I didn't do it out of laziness, but more so because my review of that 4k applies to this one as well (i.e. Picture quality, price, etc). I got this 4k some months back around Black Friday and it is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen in 2160p (and I have seen tons of movies). I figured I would take the plunge with the 4k of The Godfather after thinking it over for some time since it was on sale for about $15, and I can say with certainty that I made the right call. I had always wanted to see these movies growing up since I had heard about them nonstop as a kid, I finally got to see them many years later when I picked up the trilogy on Blu-Ray for $10 (man oh man, those were the days of cheap movies). I loved the movies (except for III which I haven't re-watched like the other ones), and even though I didn't know or care much about picture quality all those years ago, I could tell that these movies looked really nice. Come to find out all of these years later that there was a yellowish filter put over some versions of The Godfather movies (including the Blu-Ray I owned). This brings me to the 4k which looks different not only because it is significantly higher quality, but also, and more importantly, because that filter was removed from this restoration of the films in place of a natural look that more closely resembles the original film when it was first released. This is not to talk bad on the previous restoration, but rather to highlight how incredibly well done this 4k is, which these movies are very much deserving of. If you haven't seen the movies before, get them (on sale, if you can wait), if you have seen them before in any other resolution that's less than 4k, get this release. P.S. I don't know if they are still shipping the 4ks of these movies with the slipcovers, but when I ordered Part I and II, both came with their slipcovers.

Nice follow up the the original, Michael takes over the family and you see his power struggles with keeping the family together. Coppola should've ended the series with this one. Great film in 4K!

i already have Godfathet I on 4k. I had to get II to complete the set. A lot of work went into restoring these films. They look and sound great. Huge improvement over the DVDs which are almost unwatchable.

Absolute classic, now in 4k which makes it even that better.
