Fun and emotional romantic comedy
I love this sweet movie. It is clean, something that is getting harder and harder to find among movies. The story is about an Indian family that gets displaced from their homeland and restaurant, and settles in France. They buy an old, abandoned restaurant across the street from a traditional, one-star-quality French cuisine restaurant and chef's school, operated by Madame Mallory (played by Helen Mirren). The story is a romantic comedy that centers around both the Indian dad (played wonderfully by Om Puri) and one of his sons, and Madame Mallory and one of her chefs-in-training, who happens to be the only girl. You might call it a double romance. The supporting characters are excellent, and the other character that I should mention, is food! Oh, the food! If you are dieting, this will be a delicious, if not difficult movie to watch because of all the amazing food. I actually enjoy eating a meal while watching The Hundred Foot Journey. Recommend it highly.

One those hidden gems
One those movies you do not run in to until you're bored on a flight to somewhere and after watching it you wished you had seen it on the big screen. Similar to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel the actors bring out the human condition within the story very well.

This is a really good movie starring Helen Mirren. It was produced by Stephen Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey. It's a dandy.

Still have to pick this DVD up from Walmart, but it's an excellent movie, definitely a sleeper that should become more popular with time!
