Class Distinctions and plight of Jewish People
The cast was great. As always, Cate Blanchett shines. This time she uses a Russian accent, among the many different ones she uses. Also it portrays class distinctions very well…….. the wealthy vs the gypsies and German officers vs Jewish people. Cate Blanchett's character helps a Jewish friend escape Germany and leaves with her, leaving her wealthy boyfriend behind.

Not a Depp Groupie Film
This film is so much more. So many sub themes. Father/daughter love, survivial, persecution, triumph over adversity, lost love. It will play with your memories for a long time. The depth of emotion can only be appreciated by those who possess it themselves but well worth the journey along with its lead character. The girl who would brave all to find her father. Johnny Depp is the quintessential Gypsy King. He OWNS this role.
