bought as a gift, can't really review! However it did come pristene and does look interesting! family entertainment
great story, wish it lasted longer!
I friends husband was in this series and I was so excited to be finally able to see it and really enjoyed it.
My wish has come, this series was short lived on TV but memories never age. THANKS
From what I've read this show was up against some stiff competition, which probably explains why it only lasted one season. I've never seen it before but my aunt told me about it, sadly she died before they finally got around to releasing it. I enjoyed this show very much and I wish that they had made more seasons, the last show certainly left it open for new shows. A show of this kind would not be possible to make now, that is a clean family show, sad.
This debuted on ABC back in the fall of 1966, exactly 50 years ago as I write this, and I'm so happy it's finally available on DVD - I didn't think it would ever see the light of day. Thank you Walmart!
I had never heard of this movie decided to take a chance on it very good movie glad I ordered it
If you were a child in the 60s you probably saw an episode here or there, but many like me never saw every episode. Pretty much as I remember and worth seeing in its entirey. Especially as streaming doesn't seem easy for this one.
I purchased this a couple months ago when the DVD became available. This groundbreaking series was very well done considering that much of it was actually filmed on location in the Grand Teton National Park. Also, the production expense invested by 20th Century Fox to tell the story of 'The Monroes' by shooting outdoors is impressive considering what it would cost to make a TV show of this caliber today. However, while I am thrilled to finally see all of the episodes of this great TV series compiled onto one DVD set, I am a bit disappointed in the overall video quality. As mentioned above, the night time scenes get too dark and the clarity of the video is not what one would expect to see when viewing on a large flat screen TV. It's really too bad, because of the enormous beauty that the outdoor stage and backdrop provides isn't fully displayed to the viewing audience the way that it truly deserves. That said, I have been able to improve this a bit by adjusting the Backlight and Sharpness. All in all, I'm glad that I made the purchase, but I hope that down the road, 20th Century Fox Television will release of the series in HD as it will come from the original Master prints and will perhaps only need some minor restoration. Also as mentioned above, I too would have paid more to get a better produced copy. So, it is because of the video quality that I give the rating a 'Good'. Again, I am still satisfied with this and encourage any fan of the show to get the DVD set and enjoy it.
I too waited years for this to become available on DVD. It's too bad that Shout! didn't obtain the original film master prints from 20th Century Fox. As noted at the beginning of the first DVD, it states that they were remastered from the best video sources--these are no doubt, copies from syndication. They sound is sometimes bad, and some of the scenes, especially evening scenes, are very dark. I wish Shout! had made a better effort to produce a product I would have paid more for.
