The Night Before Kindergarten (Paperback)

Purchased this for my granddaughter that just started Kindergarten. She absolutely loved it, stated that they read it like 8 times. Then she called to go through the book page by page with me. Very happy with this book!!

A great first time at school book! This book would be great to read aloud on the first day of kindergarten!

My great nephew loves it.... he moved from another state and started kindergarten a week after everyone else....really helped him adapt.

I love Natasha Wing's "Night Before" books and have waited for the right year when I would have a grandchild going into kindergarten to purchase it. I plan to give it to my grandson a few months before kindergarten starts in order for us to be able to read it several times. I know he will love it!

This book is very cute - a month into kindergarten our daughter still requests it almost every night! She relates to the specific content (no more naps!) and is familiar with the related Christmas version so she connected to it quickly... Would also be great for preK teachers, and her kindergarten teacher had sent out a video of her reading it before school started, which was our initial introduction to it and my daughter loved that.

My daughter said the rhyming throughout the book kept the kids interested also the pictures gave them a lot to look at. They love the book and will read it several more times before kindergarten!

I bought this book for my daughter, who will be going to kindergarten in the fall. I plan to read it to her as we get closer. If seems to sum up her nervousness perfectly!

The Night Before Kindergarten is a children's picture book written by Natasha Wing and illustrated by Julie Durrel. It is a book that prepares families and helps them get ready for the first day of school – specifically kindergarten. Very soon my grand daughter will be going to kindergarten so , I thought reading this book would be appropriate as she doesn't have experience in school at all. Wing's text is simplistic and lyrical. It is written in the style of "The Night Before Christmas". The poem was written especially well and follows the rhythm and style of the original poem extremely well. Durrel's illustrations are wonderfully depicted. The premise of the book is rather straightforward. It is the day before the first day of kindergarten and families are getting their children ready for it. When the day comes, the children are surprised that there won't be any nap time, but quickly forget it and have fun. The parents, however, feared separation anxiety had nothing to fear as the kindergarteners declare that school is cool. All in all, The Night Before Kindergarten is a wonderful children's book done in the style of "The Night Before Christmas". It is a story about families getting ready for school – particularly kindergarten and the worries that both parent and child may have. This is a good story to prepare your soon to be kindergartener and help them lessen their jitters.
