My granddaughter love the book, she barely puts it down when she is at home.
Hands down the best book I have ever read!
The Patient is written in the form of a series of blog posts by an overconfident, bright young psychiatrist called Parker H. He takes his first job at a state mental hospital in New England and really wants to make a difference. He is assigned a mysterious, dangerous, uncategorizable mental patient called Joe who has lived in the hospital for decades, since he was a young boy. Doctors, nurses or other staff who interact with or treat this patient often go insane or commit suicide. I will not reveal the twists and turns or the end, which I did not guess. It is fast moving, relatively short and I consider it to be both horror and a psychological thriller. It was well-written, creepy, and dark. The blog post format made it even more terrifying. Keep the lights on while reading this one. Recommended for fans of Stephen King.
The Patient was a short read that gripped me from the very beginning. It's a story written as a blog about a doctor in psychiatric medicine. He takes a job at a state asylum in Connecticut because of his wish to help people. He eventually tries to take on an impossible case of a man named, Joe that the facility has deemed so dangerous that they limit who he comes into contact with. He learns the truth in time. Sometimes it's better not to know the truth. I devoured this book. It's exciting and interesting up to the very end. The concept is different and enjoyable. I couldn't wait to find out what happened. I easily could have read this in one sitting. If you like paranormal, psychological stories, you'll like this one! Highly recommend!
A bright-eyed and eager new psychiatrist wants to truly help the forgotten and patients of a state-run mental institute. He soon discovers, through a frightening series of events concerning a dangerous patient, that not everyone can be helped. The story started out really good. It has a very excellent premise, good pace and a very interesting chapter after chapter of twisted and creepy entries from the main character. honestly, I would have given it a perfect star if only the ending did not destroy my overall impression in the book. At first I am not sure where the story will lead me, but as I near the 90% of this book, I was too afraid to admit to myself, that this is not a Psychological book I was really hoping for. But in fact, it was a horror novel. Imagine my disappointment when the story came to an end. I was really hoping for a more realistic and real life explanation of what really did happened to "Joe". It never occurred to me that this will be a horror story. What a best way to ruin the overall rating for the book.
