The Pioneer Woman Sweet Romance Food Chopper, White/Teal

This food chopper by Pioneer Woman is very pretty. It is very well constructed. The blades are uniquely designed to chop all of the condiment. The feel of the handle in the palm of my hand is a very smooth feel. It is not effort to do the manual chopping motion. It does not hurt or rub the inside of my palm. It is a very comfortable design for manual chopping. The container at the bottom is very sturdy and well made. It is designed to use or not use it.

I love this Pioneer woman slap chopper. This is actually the first chopper I own, I always wanted one, but was not convinced it would work well. Now I am disappointed I waited this long. Onions have always been my nemesis. They make me cry like no one's business. That is until I tried this chopper. I included some photos to show you how beautiful it chops, and with no effort or tears from my part. It doesn't really take many slaps for it to be pretty well chopped. Saves me plenty of time with chopping my tomato, onions, jalapeños, and garlic that I use virtually every day. Super happy with its design and quality highly recommended.

This slap chopper is different than others I have used. This one not only has a cute design of flowers on it to match other Pioneer Woman products but it the cup detaches and so down the very bottom. It also has a piece that fits over the blade to keep food from getting stuck up high. It all comes apart easily to clean but not so easily that it comes apart when using. This choppers blade also rotates as it is being pushed down as opposed to just straight down. There are two small chips on the bottom edge of the cup that seem like they are supposed to be there but one of them seem to be sharp, would have been better to have it smooth all the way around as I see no benefit for them and it poses a risk of getting cut if washing by hand. Other than that, this is a great chopper!

I went into this with low expectations as something similar I'd used years ago really wasn't very good at all. But this worked a lot better than I thought. As much as I love garlic, I haaaaate chopping it, so I am all for something making that easier. And this was easier! It didn't chop my garlic cloves perfectly evenly throughout, but it was plenty good enough for sauteing. It didn't do onion nearly as well; I think you would have to break down onion so much for it to do a decent job that you may as well just chop it yourself. This thing is a little hard to put together, getting the blades into the zigzag plastic guard, but you get better at it. And thank goodness it's dishwasher safe, because holy cow, that blade is really hard to clean! I had to use a knife to scrape out the bits of garlic in the narrowest parts of the blade. That's annoying. Even the dishwasher didn't get all of it out, but it was way better than handwashing. I also worried about the blade chewing up the hard rubber bottom, but it fared better than I expected. It'll definitely get nicked and marked up over time, though. One very small thing I don't like is that the handle you press down on rotates long with the blade, so you have to allow for that as you put pressure on it. Just something you have to work around. Another minor complaint is that the chopped bits of food get lodged in the thing that is meant to scrape the side of the plastic container--which, actually, is super handy since it means you're not constantly stopping to clean the sides so everything gets chopped evenly. But I found the chopper got harder to work as more and more bits of garlic and onion got wedged between this scraper and the side. Overall, this is ok. Not life-changing and perhaps slightly more work than just cutting things yourself, but ain't it pretty.

This chopper is very pretty. I love anything pioneer woman. The blades are sharp- they chop vegetables easily. It is easy to use. The problem is you can't chop much at a time, and the cut tends to be uneven and inconsistent in size. I do like that it comes apart to wash and has a cover.

I just got this this week and i used it today it did not chop as i expected it to the onions did not come out as fine as i would of liked i will give it anorther try and see the outcome, maybe ill will put less and i aslso choped cilantro which did not get chopped up.

I love the design, chopped my onions without issue. Cleaning can be tricky though as it does not spread apart and the food gets stuck up high in the holes of the handle.. definitely not comparable to my pampered chef one I've used for years, but works when i need it.

This is a perfect example of a company reverse engineering a popular product to create a cheap imitation of their own, but not reverse engineering it well enough. This knock off looks a lot like the original, but does not function like it at all. All because it is missing one very important feature. The blades do not rotate. Every time you chop, the blades come down in the exact same spot. Which common sense should tell you means it will not chop anything more than one since the blades will simply keep hitting the food in the same spot that has already been chopped. The original, as well as the better knock offs had the blade rotate slightly with each chop, so that after 15 or so chops, the blade would make a full revolution around the device. This meant that the food was getting evenly chopped as long as you did it enough. With this device, you will get virtually the same (bad) results if you chop once or chop it 100 times. I tried with a simple onion and got a mangled mess that immediately clogged up the blades and didn't chop at all. I tried hard to find a something good to say about this for a Pros and Cons, but I could not. This is all Con.

I tried utilizing the Sweet Romance Food Chopper to chop an onion. Upon assembling the chopper, I observed the material to be of low quality plastic. Assembling the chopper is dangerous as the blades can easily cut you while the guides do not align perfectly. The chopper is smaller than a large onion so you would have to use it several times to chop. Upon trying to chop, the blades and mechanism barely penetrated the onion and only cut one spot. I would not recommend this product.
