Granddaughter's son got one from the Easter Bunny. She remembers hers and was tickled her son has his own. She really likes the size of this book so her son can "read" it himself if he feels like it or he can hold it while someone else reads to him.

Sadly this 1992 old classic is outdated. No one should ever ever tell a child to “give away something of his” to buy a friendship. The storyline is literally “Give your shiny scale to her so she'll be your friend.” Oh heck no! As a mom and as. Preschool teacher I can not condone this and neither should anyone. Never ever feel pressured to give something of yours to make someone be your friend- that is not friendship!!!! We blacked out “give” and wore “share” over it .
