The Sound of Music Live! [DVD]

In my childhood years, I grew up seeing the televised performances from the Broadway musicals, and that fed my love of music and the arts. Not since that time have I seen anything more lively and moving in spirit than this production! I applaud Carrie Underwood for creating her own . Maria, and not trying to duplicate Dame Julie Andrews. She made the role her own, and brought her own gifts to it. Audra McDonald was an absolute wonder as well! . There is something captured in live performances that is never captured on film. Anyone who loves this musical should have a copy of this wonderful production!

Loved this in "play" format. Carrie Underwood is great in this, as well as all the other actors. Don't let anybody tell you any different. Anyone who thinks Carrie Underwood wasn't perfection doesn't understand live stage acting. Also like the fact that Von Trapp and his girlfriend broke up because he wouldn't bow to the powers of the day in this version, not because the girlfriend discovered his budding love for Maria. Not sure of the original story, but this version makes me like the story even more. Watched the play twice, back to back, on recorded TV then got the DVD for my mom. I love this version, as well as the Julie Andrews one, as much as I love, "It's a Wonderful Life." Is just good, moralistic, inspirational, idealistic, anointed viewing. Makes you feel good and strive to be a better person.

I enjoyed watching this. I love the Julie Andrews version, and was excited to watch this. When you accept that it is OK for someone else to star in it, this is a very good version! The cast was great.

My four year old daughter loved this musical when it aired on TV so we got it for Christmas. She has been sick and watching "Maria" every day and singing her songs. It is her first full length movie of any kind and it was a perfect choice because it is clean.

I found Walmart had the movie I wanted and through their "magic" I was able to order it and then pick it up at my nearby center the next morning saving postage and handling. The quality of the DVD was just fine.

I watched this musical on TV live as it happened and really enjoyed it. You might think it wouldn't be a good idea to do this musical "live", but it was done successfully. I pre-ordered the video of this musical and it arrived as stated. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it again and recommend it as a great family show.

It was absolutely beautiful and Carrie Underwood was fantastic.

Good companion to the original. Quality job! You can't beat the original, yet this freshens it up for a new generation.

I bought these for gifts, so I have not seen the DVD's. I was very happy with the speed of delivery.

I thought it was with Julia Andrews we didn't like the pew actress at all
