The Taking of Pelham One Two Three

This is a fantastic release of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. The film itself is a tense, smart thriller that still feels sharp and engaging, with great performances and a strong sense of atmosphere. The presentation looks very good for a classic title, with solid detail and contrast that respect the original cinematography. Audio is clear and dialogue is easy to follow. Packaging arrived in excellent condition and everything was exactly as described. Overall, this is a must-own for fans of classic crime thrillers and a great addition to any collection.

One of the few movies to greatly improve on its source material, this is an unsung '70s classic. Funny, cynical, and thrilling in equal measure, with every role perfectly cast. I held off watching this for years because I recognized the director as the same guy who gave us Jaws the Revenge. My loss. Forget the misguided Tony Scott version (which is a prime example of how not to deliver a third act); this is the real deal.

I believe there is a remake to this title, but I can't remember who was in it or if the story was any good. That's how unforgettable the remake was for me. As for this one: Walter Matthau, et al. Actors in those days (when this original was made) resembled the characters in the movies they portrayed. They looked believable, not like a cast of pretty people. Oh, and the film itself never looked better.
