For some reason, they never show this great mid-70s disaster flick on tv. So, I went hunting for it and found it here! McQueen and Newman were never better, imho. Had not seen the flick in years and let me tell you, it is sterling in Blu-Ray. Thanks for the availability Wal-Mart!
The audio and video were restored to perfection and had a very high resolution. It was reminiscent of the movie (when had seen it originally in the theater) in the 1970's though, better because of HD! The movie did have some "campy" dialogue; however, the flames and the sense of impending doom was portrayed extremely well and palpable. Sequences of the emanating fire and almost total obliteration of the "supposed" tallest structure in the world for that time was the pervasive theme. This was a wonderful disaster flick with great intensity and, you could feel the histrionics of the noteworthy folks just trying desperately trying to get out of harms way. You knew that many would die (in the story). Steve McQueen and Paul Newman were brilliant in their respective roles. This was a thrilling movie - filled with intensity; therefore, I highly recommend.
Love this movie
I saw this movie as a youth . It's still great to watch . And on blu ray it looks like new !!
It's a shame they don't show this on tv. I was fornute enough to see it on AMC over 15 years ago. And was hooked. Even better on blu ray.
I've always thoroughly enjoyed this movie, but it's even better in Blu-Ray. Nice sharp images. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a movie with lots of action.
One of the best disaster movies of the 1970's
I tried the disk several times, it always loaded half way then displayed a " no disc " message.
