Even after all of this time, I still find this to be my favorite deck from Theory11. The brown/gold color combination complements each other amazingly and the artwork makes this deck great for every use case. Don't sleep on this one, definitely a must-own.
Though at first I was not super impressed because I thought the box was black and gold and not brown and gold like it is, I soon came to realize that it gives the deck a more satisfying look. The cards themselves are so beautifully designed and such a pleasure to perform with.
I only got these in yesterday and I usually put cards through at least a week of testing before forming an opinion on them. You know that feeling you get when you open deck and you can just tell that a particular deck is going to be amazing? I got that immediately with Medallions. This is going to my top 10 alongside decks like Monarchs and Smoke and Mirrors. Superb cards. Balanced, lightweight, controllable and virtually broken in straight out of the box.
I'm 52 , and decided to collect 52 decks this year. This is about my 43rd, and my biggest (good) surprise! I purchased this half-way by accident, then regretted my purchase until it arrived. This might be my favorite yet, certainly in my top 4. What I love about this deck is that so many aspects are plush in an understated way. It's like a casual awesomeness. My favorite feature is that the court cards look standard, albeit with a nice foil treatment, with so many of the detail elements familiar from the ubiquitous Bicycle Standards. Yet at a closer look, these have all been redrawn, and reinterpreted with a bit more of an attractive sense of proportions, and some fun Easter Eggs. I suspect that all of the court cards have a lock and/or key element included subtly or prominently in the design. So far, I have found locks/keys on all but the King of Clubs and maybe Hearts, but both of these do have the Theory 11 logo, hidden in there. I love these Easter Eggs, and the famous T11 luxury feel and finish. I'm so bored with the color brown in most cases, and can't believe how much I love this brown-heavy deck. Thanks so much.
I can't stress how hard it is for me to pick any single deck as my FAVORITE, but of all the decks I've seen and collected Medallions has to be it. The details are stunning, the court cards are a wonderfully unique departure from from standard faces, and damn it, the texture of the box feels so damn nice. The texture of the cards themselves handle very well for sleight of hand or for a game of cards with friends to rub in their faces just how much better your taste is than theirs. The box may say "Playing Cards," but this deck is some "Serious Art." Las Vegas Native approved!
This deck is awesome! I do not like brown. It is my least favourite colour. But, somehow, it looks amazing on this deck. The tuck case is absolutely beautiful. I love how there is embossing even on the plain brown open areas. This is added detail you only see very close up, or, you feel. The inside of the tuck case is plain. The card backs have that same amazingly intricate scrollwork design. These are truly beautiful and look great when the card is spinning. The pips are standard, which is an important feature for some applications. The identical jokers have beautiful medallions on them. The royals intrigue me. At first glance, they look very standard, as well. But, a closer look reveals these are custom. I really like these. I'm new to cardistry. So, I can't say how they handle but, from what I hear, they handle amazingly. I almost didn't get this deck because I'm not a fan of brown. But, I'm very glad I did!
Absolutely gorgeous! The shine on the cards to the flowing yet unchanging elegant design. these perfect cards trump even Monarchs and Contraband in terms of tuck case. A must-see in person to truly appreciate the perfect amount of metallic inks. I find myself trying not to use them to preserve the new feel to them, but I know that their feel of touching something sacred will never leave because of the quality stock. Thank you for this experience, t11!
Just received my Medallions decks and WOW! What a wonderfully design deck of cards. I've collected a few hundred decks of cards over the past years from various dealers and have had to deal with the unbalanced design of decks. Some having phenomenal tuck cases just to find the deck of cards to be lacking in style, or vise versa, but not with this deck. From the lux paper choice, to the new interpretation on the court cards, I find the Medallions deck to be one of the best designed deck I've seen here at theory11. Well worth the money at twice the price.
I picked up this deck randomly in hopes that it would be awesome, and I was not disappointed. The card backs on any deck are what pull me in and this deck as well as many many other theory11 decks never cease to amaze me. The slickness of the cards was a bit much at first but I was able to get used to them fairly quickly. A must have to any collection!
One of my favorite overall designs. The court cards' color scheme is fantastic and they have interesting faces.HOWEVER, I was a little disappointed to see that the back design is no longer the brown and gold, like pictured here, but just dark brown and white.
