Thermos Stainless Steel Mug w/ Slide Lock Lid, Granite, 18 oz

Ok. The lid is tricky the first time you open it but after you figure it out it's fairly easy. Luckily you have me to tell you how to do it. First turn the lid to the left until it stops. Then dig your fingernails into the crack between the cup and the lid and pull up - heave ho!!!!!! After you do it one time it will be easy. This lid configuration is what makes it leak proof so you can throw it on you purse or gym bag with no worries.

This thermos travel mug will actually keep hot drinks hot up to 9hrs. I have 2. I keep 1 to have coffee very warm while driving long distances and a 2nd one that will keep coffee 'hot' for hours. I have bought 4 as gifts.

Thermos is a great brand and I would buy Thermos products again. The only critique I have is the lid. When I go to drink out of this mug, the lid hits my nose. I don't have a very big nose and it hits the lid. The other Thermos I have does not have this type of designed lid. I would recommend a redesign and go back to a lid that will not interfere with the drinking process. As far as keeping items cold, I have had the ice remain for over 24 hours.

I bought this to replace a dishwasher-safe travel mug from a different manufacturer where the coating was starting to peel off from going through the dishwasher. I thought that this Thermos mug had no coating and was just brushed stainless steel, but it turns out that it has a clear coating on the outside that started peeling around the top after only a few weeks of use. My other complaint about this mug is that the base is narrow, which makes me worry it will tip over. Other than that, it's a good mug. It keeps hot coffee hot and has a large, comfortable handle and a non-slip base. The sliding lid cover slides smoothly, and it's easy to drink from.

Handle is already loose after 30 days and there's no way to tighten it.
