this is a classic John Ford/John Wayne movie. its a story of PT boat action in 1941. After Pearl Harbor, Japan attacked all over the Pacific. The Philippines are where the PT boats were stationed. throughout the movie, the boats keep gettting pushed back. not saying much more. but the PT boats are real, there are real veterans in the movie, the cinematography is great. if you love John Ford movies, this will be no different
I love John Ford's westerns and serious drama's. This is without a doubt his very best War movie. It's based on the true story of the PT boats in World War II. Navy Commander Frank Wead wrote the screenplay based on his experiences in World war II. Robert Montgomery plays a PT boat skipper with honesty and realism. He was a PT boat Commander in World war II. John Wayne is good as always but he's not in charge here which makes it even better. This is Robert Montgomery's command and he is in charge. It's honest, realistic, patriotic and has it's fair share of humor done John Ford's way. The Blu-ray is typical Warner Brothers movie only with subtitles, no extras at all but the picture is crystal clear, the sound is good and the price is right. It would have been nice to have a little making of documentary or more background on Frank Wead and Robert Montgomery but Warner Bros is not very generous that way. Get it anyway. The movie is long but never boring and always interesting.
wonderful true story about the pt boats. bluray was an impressive improvement
1945 film that captures the WWII Pacific Theater with a P.T. boat squaron.\nThis Black
