Easy to see, casts a mile, clearly marked for proper weight, hard to thread line through! I found that the brass grommets, at least one end will pry out just using your thumb nail. Remember to slide the grommet up or down in proper direction, then double and twist your line, like making a haywire twist, and push it on through! Push brass piece back in one or both ends, tie something you kill fish with on, and load up!!
I've used other slip and spring floats to impart movement to a jig, but the results were always so-so; it always seemed awkward. I started using the 3/16 oz. version of this float and found getting the results I was after much easier. After catching a number of sunfish and crappie, I decided to get a 1/2 oz and fish a decent size jig under it with a small stick bait, maybe with some shot down the line to cock the float and present the bait. I ended up catching some nice large mouth with that setup, so I really enjoy using this float. I've started to think of it as the only way you can truly fish a vertical jig from the shore.
I threw out my line with a Lindy hellgramite watsit jig, tap the line to make the bobber wobble and bam! The shellcracker went crazy. I caught shellcracker that you could barely get your hand around.
Used the Wobble Bobber w/Refrigerator White Crappie Jokers. Performed great. Caught Crappie at 18 ft. in 30_ feet of water up the Little MO River channel out from Self Creek-only kept 10 w/4 fish over 2 lbs.
Thill has designed what could have been a great bobber. They missed the mark by not putting the brass inserts all the way thru from end to end. It is almost impossible to thread line, especially lighter line, through the bobber. They need to upgrade the hole to be smooth, like other slip bobbers are designed.
A lot of people complain about getting the line through, however I have a solution. I doubled the line up and made a loop at the end and it went through with no problems. It does cast very far being a weighted bobber, but it's hard to tell when you're on the bottom since it doesn't lay over like a non-weighted traditional slip bobber when you're on the bottom. I'm glad I bought one to satisfy my curiosity, but am not sure I'll buy more until I use it for the season.
I've had this product for 2 years now. Although I like it for its action and casting, getting the line thru the thing is a lesson in patience. Thill did a bad job designing it as the brass ends do not go all the way thru, thus the line gets caught up on the inside edge of the bottom brass insert and will not go thru. Very poor design.
I also have had the same problem with the wobble bobber, can't get the line through, gonna try a needle with line tied to it, maybe that will work. Helluva good bobber though, very good in fact , threading is dicey though just like other review. Overall Lindy tackle is the best in the industry. All of it. Maybe Lindy should have a video showing how to thread a line into one. What a good idea, listening Lindy ?
Being elderly and not the best eye sight makes getting a line thru this bobber is nearly impossible. With all the great minds at Thill, someone should just fix the issue, PLEASE !!!
I love this bobber when I can get the line through it. So many days I've set on the water spending 15+ minutes trying to get the line through. There is a little lip on the inside of the bottom hole and your line catches it and wont push through. If they fix that, I'll buy nothing but Wobble Bobbers. They cast far, wobble well, and sink good when you have a fish.
