Thompsons Waterseal Solid Wood Sealer Desert Tan gal

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using Thompson's Water Seal for years - 12 years to be exact - and I've never changed a board in that time. We live by the ocean and wanted a nice deck to replace the small one that was there before so we could just enjoy the view and sea air. My wife and I more than doubled the size of the original deck and we wanted to protect our investment. We researched many stains and sealers but Thompson's caught our attention and we have no regrets. Our deck takes a licking every year from North Atlantic storms, but it has stood up well. I can only attribute this to our annual application of Thompson's Water Seal stain. Deck staining day in spring with Thompson's has become a tradition for us!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with this. We had a small project at the house that needed a wood sealer so we picked this up. I’ve never done it before but the directions make it easy and it went on nice and smooth. It worked great.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I sealed some decking this summer and I’m happy about the outcome. It snowed here yesterday and the decking is doing well. It appears that this brand is the best I have used. I have had some that been completely useless and have not sealed as they should have. I am happy with this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This wood stainer is easy to apply, it pours easy and comes in a nice metal container. Color was exactly what I was looking for, provides a nice finishing touch to our deck. I am hoping this will hold up for a while.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’ve been needing to refinish our front deck for a long time now. We haven’t completed it just yet, but have done some of the railing and it already looks so much better! This stain/sealer is pretty easy to work with, the color looks great and fresh and I can’t wait to see the project completed now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The color was exactly what we wanted. It went on smooth and easy. Cleanup was a breeze. It does t have a strong odor. The only con was that it didn’t cover as well as we thought it was going to. We had a mold problem where the sun didn’t hit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Thompsons water sealer was easy to apply, it soaked right into the wood. The color isn’t what you are expected when it first comes out, but it dries beautifully! The finish feels nice and I believe it will help my deck hold up much better and longer too. Although it is water soluble, you need to clean it up quickly or it is tough to remove. Otherwise a really great product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sealer has a beautiful color but not enough pigmentation so if you want to obtain a brighter color then you'll need to do the job twice. If you like only the variable color just do one coat. Isn't heavy cream is more liquid than other brands.

We applied this product last summer and it looked great HOWEVER it is now April, the snow has melted and we're left with this MESS! Wherever water sat or dripped, like off the gazebo, the stain has peeled and lifted, less than 8 months later. The entire 40' x 16' deck needs to be sanded now! What a waste of time, energy and money.
