My pavers look great and protected for winter

JimN November 9, 2019

Used this last year for winter protection of my pavers. After easily applying with a roller and making sure pavers are clean, especially the ones on the north (shade)side of the house, they look great - like if I had just installed them, and, brought out the color. Product lasts well for about 6 months and has to be re-applied in fall for winter protection. Waiting for temps to come back to 45 to apply. Will use this yearly as a must maintenance on pavers.

Sticky residue

Millsie July 17, 2019

I sprayed this stuff on my front poch that is brick with broken clay tiles. It's been two days and there is still a sticky residue left. Did not soak in like I thought it would. Looks and feels like a thin layer of glue. Really wish I'd left it alone or got the original Thompson's water seal.

Junk, DO NOT USE if you care how your concrete loo

Egclassic May 13, 2026

This product is garbage! I used it to seal a new concrete driveway that was poured a year ago, so I know it's cured. This product left it discolored and splotchy like all the other reviewers have experienced. Now I have to buy something to remove this crappy product.

I Tried on Wood; Totally Unusable!

Anonymous August 18, 2019

In the past I used the traditional Thompson's Water Seal (clear) on my raw cedar fencing with good results. That product was no longer available, so the clerk recommended this water-based product. It was totally useless, and made a milky mess everywhere. What were they thinking?

Terrible look on concrete

Murmel October 20, 2019

A contractor used this on my entryway and driveway. It looks horrible. Streaks, light and dark spots, very uneven look. He applied it as directed. Do not ever use this on concrete! I just hope, it wears off quickly. And the covered entryway will have to get stripped off of this terrible sealer I guess.

Product not like previous, gov't to blame?

Mark T. August 8, 2019

Terrible experience, rock wall stucco treatment. White, milky, no sprayer can be used unless thinned but thinning using what, unknown. Don't recommend. Trying to get my money back. Sad situation, wasted time, energy (using a brush), and money (poor results).

Worst product ever. Ruined my floors.

Shelley February 5, 2020

I value the Thompson name and can't believe my experience with this product. I didn't even think to check online reviews of this prior to purchase, but wish I had done so and that's the reason why I'm writing this in hopes that others will see it. The contractor I was working with applied this to seal freshly laid concrete flooring. When it dried there were white streaks everywhere, as other reviews had mentioned. This was the final step in several weeks of construction and ruined the floors and the job. We had to sand the floors down by hand to remove it costing an additional day. If I could rate this less than a star I would. Very disappointing and costly.

Milky Colored Stones

Curious March 28, 2019

This product ruined my concrete stones by turning them milky white, instead of being clear. I would'nt recommend this product for sealing concrete. It should be taken of the market. My stones are ruined !!! .

Leaves white film

Blue Ridge Stone July 30, 2019

Used this product on stone veneer. Left white residue and did not dry clear. Thought maybe I have just gotten some old product, went and purchased another gallon can, same issue. Do not recommend..

Horrible Results - flagstone changed color!

MVBY November 16, 2025

One week after installing a new flagstone patio, the installer suggested sealing the pavers. He used this product believing that it would dry clear, as stated on the product. We are VERY DISAPPOINTED with the results of this product regarding the advertised "dries clear". The photos are before and after. The light gray flagstone is now a tan/light brown and not the color of the original patio. I am at a loss for what to do and am hoping Thompsons will provide some suggestions for resolving this issue. I see from the other reviews that I am not alone in my disappointment.
