Thompsons Waterseal Wood Sealer Clear 1.2gal

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought 3 gallons for my small patio and fence. Used it on my parents 18' x 36' multi level deck. We do this once a year. Added my mother in laws deck with another gallon plus a neighbours 20x 24 deck for another gallon. You should sell it in 5 gallon pails. A friend asked for help and was using Olympic and it was not even close. No penetration, terrible coverage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been using Thompson since we installed our deck three years ago. The sealer is so easy to put on our deck! Seals great & dries fast! Lasts 12 months! Thompson is the only deck sealer we trust! Great company!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Thompson clear wood sealer in my privacy fence. The pickets are for so I need a product that would make them last. I live in the coastal mountains, so a lot of weather conditions. It's been 5 years and the fence barely looks weathered. Getting ready to treat it again. Hopefully it will last another five years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I HAVE USED THOMPSONS EVERY FEW YEARS SINCE I BUILT MY WOODEN DECK IN 1980; AND THE DECKING IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION! DRH 2026

Looks like most negative reviews are from people not prepping properly or even at all before using this, there's instructions on how to prep wood BEFORE applying the sealer for a reason, if you do the prep/follow directions this sealer is fantastic, yall need to stop putting it on over chipped paint then acting like its the products fault.

I have wood posts and railings on my wrap around porch. I have used this product every year since the porch was new in 2008. Still looks brand new. No discoloration or grey wood. I power wash the wood, wait a day and then apply the product. One trick I have found is I put the 5 gallon pail in my hot tub overnight. I use bricks to hold it in place. This lets the liquid warm to 80-90 degrees. The product flows much better. I use a Wagner airless sprayer and mist on the product. My porch is maybe 80' total in length. Takes less than 2 gallons every year. Like I said, porch is now 24 years old and still looks new. Preparation is the key and don't apply too thick.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I build cedar raised garden beds and herb planters. I use Thompson Waterseal clear wood sealer for all my projects. It brings out the natural beauty of cedar while giving it a long-term waterproof and UV proof coating.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is very easy to use. The cleanup is easy too and not messy. It brings out the natural beauty of the wood and makes the grain more noticeable. Loved the way our porch turned out. Thankful for the protection it provides.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We applied Thompson's Water Seal Advanced to our 1000 sq foot deck, built of Micro Pro Sienna treated wood , built in 2018. First we swept, vacuumed, spot sanded, carefully washed board by board with the hose and let dry our lovely blonde deck. To our horror and extreme disappointment, the Thompson's Water Seal Advanced Clear/Transparent has rendered our deck a horrible orange colour! Not at all what we expected and desire. Not only that- our deck is now extremely slippery! Furniture and shoes are sliding around on it . It is not safe. We are devastated. How do we ever get our beautiful light coloured, non slippery deck back?

I applied this product according to the instructions. my surface was acid stained concrete which is 7 years old. I applied the sealer with a roller and the temperature was approximately 85 degrees. After over 48 hours the sealer was tacky, so much so that you could not walk on the surface. Pressure washing twice with a detergent had a minimum effect. Only after two more cleanings with a degreaser was I able to walk on the surface with still some tacky spots which needed attention. I have used other water based concrete sealers before which have all had very fast drying times and did not remain tacky even after several applications within the same day. Always used Thompson's products in the past and I thought I would revisit the product line. I am sorry I did.
