I bought this stick from other retailers and it was always deffective. The one for Walmart was in mint condition, 100% functional. I totally recommend both the stick and purchasing it from Walmart if you don´t want unpleasant surprises.
This is a solid build and very good replica. I appreciate that Thrustmaster added additional buttons compared to the real thing. I fly a lot in VR and it helps tremendously that the buttons are matched to the real aircraft. I do have a few complaints: the buttons each have different tactile feel and one is mushy and hard to press compared to it's A-10 counterpart. Also, the stick is not as ergonomic as the A-10 stick and a few of the buttons are hard to reach. If this is modeled 1:1 on the actual F-18 stick then this is not a deficiency of the stick itself, but rather more likely a deficiency of how I hold it versus how a real pilot might hold it (it is angled in the actual cockpit). Versus the A-10, I much prefer this stick solely for the button and hat layouts; but I prefer the ergonomics of the A-10 stick. As much as I appreciate this being an exact replica, I can see where Thrustmaster likely should have implemented some tweaks for ergonomic improvements. (I am using this stick on the A-10 base, sitting on my desktop. I suspect if I lowered the stick to more closely resemble the actual placement in the cockpit, then it would address my ergo concerns).
