Excellent teaching instrment.

Rhino23454 September 21, 2013

These pencils were purchased for a 4 year old homeschooler. He did not need adaptive pencil grips due to the size, weight and shape of the pencil. Most people don't understand but learning the gradual stages of pencil grasp patterns are more complex than we realize. Shipping was expected to arrive in 4 business days came 2 days after order was placed so thanks Wal-Mart. Just some tips as you clearly must be buying for a toddler/preschooler lol . Have patience, you do not want your child to pair your frustration with learning. And everyone learns differently try adaptive pencil grips or play doh.

A Wise Purchase

Ann June 1, 2026

These pencils are just the right size for little hands and are a bright yellow attractive color. The lead is not easily broken and best of all they fit in my regular manual pencil sharpener for easy sharpening. The eraser erases clean, no smudges or pink marks. This is a good pencil choice for little ones. It may seem a little pricey for a pencil but it is well worth it. One of these pencils will out performs and outlast 10 or more of the regular pencils whose lead and build is not designed to hold up to the force exercised by the little ones when writing, drawing, or deliberately misusing the writing instrument. The lead is not easily broken. This purchase will save you money in the long run.

Great for beginners!!

Brandywinefairy October 10, 2013

Fits well in little hands. The thicker lead point on these pencils is harder to break than regular pencils, which is really good because kids usually press down kind of hard when learning to write. I like the bigger eraser also, comes in handy.. Beginners tend to make lots of mistakes. Hope his helps! Highly recommend these for beginners.

Truly the best!

Katie July 28, 2016

These pencils are fatter for little ones' hands to hold more easily. This specific brand was required for Kindergarten and they really are very good quality that don't break easily, easy to hold, and writes smoothly. The price here at Walmart if a great price and makes it affordable. We still buy Dixon-Ticonderoga brand pencils for my older daughter (the regular width ones) because of the good quality. Highly recommend for all preschoolers and kindergarteners!

PERFECT STARTER PENCIL

JenMat January 12, 2019

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love a fatter pencil for a good hold. Even better though, my son who's in preschool and learning to write his letters was able to draw and write better than with a standard pencil. The grip is much better for his small hand and is hands down the perfect pencil for beginners.

Sturdy!

Loopasaurus January 14, 2019

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 3 year old can grab one of these pencils perfectly fine without it moving around while he's trying to write. He's obviously still learning how to hold it properly and steady but since these are thicker than ordinary pencils, he doesn't struggle as much.

Great, as usual

MandyK January 10, 2019

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have little ones who aren't using traditional number twos yet but these are a nice way to introduce pencils to them. The pencils are thicker which makes them easier to hold. The graphite is super dark which is nice because my littlest doesn't need to push very hard to see his drawings on the paper. I definitely recommend these.

Hard to Find

jdray July 27, 2016

I purchased these pencils for my 5 year-old grandson who is entering kindergarten at a Christian school. Public schools in my city don't require "chubby" pencils, so I had to order them from walmart.com. The pencils appear to be good quality. Dixon is a good brand, and the price was much lower than expected. I'll know how the pencils function after grandson uses them at school in 2 weeks.

These are great for Kindergarteners because the pencil lead is thicker and doesn't break easily.

big boy pencil

florian July 1, 2016

i use this for construction purposes... the lead is durable and can be sharpened easily with the large hole sharpener that is available here in a 12 pack( both items are priced better than amazon). when i need a precision point i just sharpen it and am good to go. i give them to my buddies at work!!!
